Atv racing

So we went racing on the weekend and my son blew the top end in his bike on the last moto. He finished respectfully 2nd, blowing oil out the crank vent and smoking bad. I tore the motor apart to find the cylinder totally f'ed with metal bits throughout the motor. We have a race this weekend and the parts won't make it here in time. So...... I re ringed it , flushed it and put it back together. He has 2 motos to run on Sunday. So my fingers are crossed that it hold together. I will be doing a full rebuild on it next week. I will post back after the race. Wish me luck!!

Yup I have to work but I take the Friday before the race off and work on bikes after work. It can make for some long nights.

I watched a video of this guy, John Britten, repair a cracked piston on his motor (with a gas welding torch) to stay in the running. He was a winner.
As I said Lots o Luck Tye

John Britten was an absoulte genius! period.

The V 1000 was inovative in so many ways! I got to see the Britten race at westwood in 1990 when fellow New Zealander and local superbike star Gary Goodfellow debuted the V1000 in North America at Westwood motorsport park!

I really miss those days up at the track, When the canadian superbike nationals came to town it was a big party up there, I have many fond memories of those days as a cornerworker at westwood! *sigh*

Mission is fun but it is no westwood!

Gary was pretty great!
Goodfellow would stand up near the end of the straight pretending to be standing on the brakes faking out the competition and making him brake early
Deers leap was really cool too. Kinda like a miniature Laguna Seca
I miss it too

What year Raptors Tye, I've had a ton of quads over the last ten years, [mainly 4x4's]. I had a 02 raptor 660 with a full fmf exhaust, and that thing sounded like a hog at full throttle. I currently have a 2006 grizzly 660 with close to 20000$ into it.

While we are on the subject of racing just a FYI!

There is now a Canadian racing in World Superbike for the first time in many, many years!

His name is Brett McCormik and he is ridding for the Liberty Racing Team, Effenbert Ducati 1098R!

Not sure yet how he has done so far but while at my sister and bro-in-law's place (he races a CBR600RR at mission) we watched McComrik finished 14th at *Imola*!

I hope he can do Canada proud and make his way up to the big leagues........MOTO GP!

Go Brett Go!!

Well, it went great all things concidered. My son got the Holeshot both moto's. The motor was blowing oil out the head after the first moto. So I gave it a oil change to get some more metal chunks out of it. We then towed it to the line and started praying. It held and he took 2nd overall. Now I've got 2 weeks to do a total rebuild. There 08 fully built raptors by the way. I will have to check the links out when I get home from work.
