Miles to Kilometers/Daytime running lights?
Just got my 2002 up from the States. I will have to have my daytime runnning lights activated. Can I do this myself ? Is it something I have to pay lots of money for someone to hook up a computer and press a few buttons? Also, can I change the odometer to kilometers? Thanks guys. Kevin 2002 24V Auto, LB,....soon to have goodies. |

I believe the headlights can be turned on with the Starscan (actually the box before starscan but I forget the name). As far as the odometer I believe you will have to get a complete new head with the KM's on the outside and miles on the inside instead of the exact opposite you have now.

I have the 2002 shop manual cd, looked it up the other day, it shows a module on left inner fender, c/p DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP MODULE DESCRIPTION The Daytime Running Lights (Headlamps) System is installed on vehicles manufactured for sale in Canada only. A separate module, mounted on the cowl, controls the DRL. OPERATION The headlamps are illuminated when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. The DRL module receives a vehicle-moving signal from the vehicle speed sensor. This provides a constant headlamps- on condition as long as the vehicle is moving. The lamps are illuminated at less than 50 percent of normal intensity.

Talk to the guys at Canadian tire they are ones that have to certify it if you, give them the Serial number, they can tell you what has to be done. There is a site at Canada Customs that tells you what can be brought in and what is needed. You should have done it before you bought it. The speedo head does not need to be changed Daytime Running lights I believe is a module, you may need bumpers lots of stuff or very little. PLAY SAFE!

You can buy a unit at Crappy Tire toturn lites on with the ignition for $24.95.I did this only to find out that on the 3rd series (03 - 07) a Dodge dealer can do it on the truck's computer for about $30.00. It isn't necessary (manditory) to install a panel with km on the odometer. John

Your right about the module, I wasn't thinking about the 02, I knew the 03 could be activated. As far as the odometer, you don't NEED it but you sounded like you wanted it so thats why I gave you the info on it.

a buddy's truck was from canada. he looked into getting a different gauge cluster and having km/miles converted. it would have been somewhere around like $900 to do it. he just got used to it. money has went into power instead.

you can jumper the lights to be full on all the time if you like instead of the drl. the odometer thing can be changed by getting a cluster from a wrecker. although you get a new odometer reading then as well. nothing else needs to be changed as far as i know.
