BD Injectors

to BD.

I have a 2002 5.9, 6 speed with a K&N intake and Edge comp box. I want to throw on a set of injectors soon, and i love the quality of your parts. what is the biggest injectors you would recommend without doing turbo upgrades. i was hoping to get between 80 and 110 hp. ps, the more black smoke the better

thanks for the help.

With injectors and your comp on 5-5 your EGT's will get so hot you will not be benefit from the injectors. Your turbo charger is so far out of its efficiency range already with the comp box on level 4 or 5 that adding more fuel to the fire with injectors is pointless other than to make black smoke and that's not what we are about at BD, we sell power and research new technologies like our Super B line or turbo chargers to clean up the smoke and squeeze every pony out of each drop of fuel!

Each to their own and I understand that some guys think that black smoke is cool and pissing some jerk off in traffic is a great way to feel better but I always feel better when I pull away from the idiot behind me like he is standing still and leave him in awe on how the 8000lbs diesel that was just in front of him pulled away like a jet and sounded like one too... and he could see me because it was clean behind me... now thats cool!

Be wise and invest your money in a Super B Turbo Charger Hippie, you will be much happier with the end result!

Tell ya what, if you like, PM me and I will give you a better than average deal on a turbo charger... the prove a point sale

Dave

aha! thats the kind of advice i was hoping for. i do want to upgrade my turbo, unfortunatley its gonna be a piece by piece kind of build on my truck. I am open to any kind of advice you can give on the build up of my truck. i know that i want to do turbo, injectors, and an intake elbow, was thinking about a wastegate, not really sure about that one though. which order would you suggest doing it in. i think the first thing i want to do is put in either a secondary or a new lift pump. if it was your buildup and money was an issue, where would you take it from here. another thing i've heard about is the boost fooler, what does that do, recommend or no?
i dont do too much towing, if i do its pretty light. mostly hot rodding and mild offroading. once again thanks for the advice,
ps. being a 20 year old kid, i'll take any kinda sale i can get, be it the prove a point or not. haha.

also, thanks for killing my buzz with the smoke thing. lol.

i woudl say that you need to work on the fuel system first, if you plan on doing it in the safest manner that's the way to go. You don't wanna start adding everything else to make you go fast only to hit a speed bump when the injection pump goes, now your turbo fund just went out the window, believe me i know whow that works first hand.

after you get the fuel pump out of the way your gonna wanna start worring about getting more air into the motor. the first thing i would do is the boost fooler, it's a cheap way to get more boost and power. then i would suggest the intake manifold, that will drop your egts by about 50* and also give you less smoke and more throttle response. i wouldn't worry about the wastgate right now b/c your just gonna have to take it off and sell it when you put a new turbo on there, not to say it woudln't help you but your on a budget remember.

Thanks for not being offended by my comment, it will be my pleasure to help you build this truck!

If it were my truck and money was an issue, which it is LOL. Like you said, take care of your fuel pressure, our lift pump upgrade is inexpensive and will save you the big bucks of replacing your injection pump one day.

Next you need to take care of that air... or lack of. Putting an boost elbow will help you build more boost (how much boost are you making now)? but more boost will also over-spin the factory turbo and push it further out of its efficiency range. So save those pennies and get a Super Single turbo, once you have the Super B Single you will be able to put a 90HP or even a 110HP injector in. Then this is were it gets good... after the Super B Single is installed it can be easily upgraded to the Super B Twins and now you are are at a whole new level $$$

The great thing is you have a manual transmission, when money permits you will probably have to get your self a South Bend Clutch.

Hope this helps.

when i get a piece of it i am usually hitting about 25 psi and 1000EGt's. When i really got my hole a flowing i have seen as much as 34-35psi and about 1150- 1200 EGT's but that is never for more then about 4/5 seconds at a time.

the clutch i actually just replaced about 20k ago with a Luk, hopefully wont have to replace that one for a while.

although i have always been a fan of "twins". i dont think i would really take it to that level with this truck. my next truck is gonna be a Common rail, which will hopefully get twin turbos with twin CP3's. but that is when i make it to a whole nother pay grade!.

can you explain what the boost fooler does and how it works. i have never really gotten the breakdown on what it does, other then its a cheap way to get boost.

how much power can the stock VP pump handle, i'd rather push that mod off as long as possible, especially if there is a cheaper mod i can do that will help it keep up with the other engine mods i'll be doing.

thanks to both Dave & Kyle for helping me out this. i've had many a pondering session ( usually on the crapper with a diesel power mag) on this subject and now i have smarter people to ask about it! thanks

u wont need a boost fooler since ur comp already uses one. a boost fooler is used since ur factory settings on ur ecu doesnt allow more then a certain amount of psi (not sure of exact amount) and it limits the amount of fuel flow to keep boost to a minimum. most large HP boxes and tumers are equipped with boost foolers.
