Idea for black trucks

I noticed that my black truck gets significantly hotter than my white Chevy. (obviously black attracts more heat) My idea is to lay a piece of white vinyl over about 90-95% of the roof to help cool off the cab leaving several inches around the perimeter black (so it wont be as noticeable). Whacha think?

Ups uses translucent fiberglass roofs for their delivery trucks. It kills 2 birds with one stone by keeping it cooler inside and it lets in more light.
I'd like to put white vinyl on the roof I gotta find a vinyl place.
