Tried Smoking my Lights

I have been looking for a smoked tailgate light for my dually, and no one makes one, they only have the lights for under the tailgate. Soooo, I thought I would try out the VHT Nightshades. Here is how it came out. I know some of the pic's didn't come out that good, but I thought I would post it anyway's.

Stock Light

Smoked Light

At Night

I also did the 3rd brake light

Smoked

At night

As you can see, they are plenty bright enough at night, and they actually look much darker during the day than they show in the photo's. I wasn't sure how they would come out, so I haven't put the clear coat on them yet, but I think I like them

Looks good, just need to clear coat. Theclear coat will protect the paint from scratches. You can also wet sand to get a smooth finish.

I agree about the clear coat, I just wanted to try them out before I cleared them, as it would be much easier to remove the tint, if I didn't like it.

What is the difference between "blacked out" and "smoked" lights? Can you black out lights yourself? Are the smoked just alittle darker like yours?

I used spray tint to smoke them, and I think a lot of people are using paint to "black them out".

IMO, smoked = blacked out = tinted...

You need to spray it on thicker to get them shiny...
