Paint bubbling on rear wheel well
I've noticed a few bubbles in the paint on the left rear wheel well on my 04.5. I was wondering if anyone else has seen the same thing. Also if anyone has any bodyshop experience, how much might this cost to get fixed?

Rusting through from behind I'd guess. Lot of chemicals from the Northern Illinois winters. The *best* way to fix it is to put a new panel on. If you just sand it down and repair it with putty, it will be back in a year or so. You can take the liner out and get behind it pretty easy to see what you have. I'd do the other side as well and get some rust inhibitor on there stop it if it hasn't started yet. I've used this stuff effectively. It is what they say it is. Since this is the rear wheel well, wouldn't a new panel be the whole bed?

you can grind it out and spray some rust inhibitor in there let it dry and if its big use some fiberglass short strand filler the sand it down and use a little glazing putty to fill air pocket holes and paint it

i work in a body shop and have for some time. my dad has been a bodyman/painter for 20+ years. in my professional opinion id locate your local autobody supply store.... if you cant find one stop buy the nearest body shop and ask where they get there paint/primer/sandpaper...ect and contact there supplier and ask about SEM rustmore. you sand it down and spray this stuff on and let it set for 24 hrs and it stops the rust. then you put your filler on and primer and paint. pretty easy really. if you cant find it pm me and i will see what i can do about getting you a bottle.

ive cut out the rust and fixed a few like this and they always rust back. even if you paint the back side. i thank that if you cut part of the inner panel out you can wash it out and no rust. im sure it will weaken the metal but if you hit it with something its going to bend anyway so whats it matter. thats the only way that i havent tried and the only way i see that will stop it for good.
