for those that paint parts on your truck

i am getting a new factory bumper that was taken off a brand new to replace it with a ranch hand but the painted part is not my color but i got a great deal on it

so what paint do you guys use because every time i tried to get paint it always only came in the little touch up bottle or should i just get it pained at a shop

and what would you do for prep and the proper process for paint and what would you use for supplies

thanks in advance

aslong as the painted part isnt all messed up. you should be able to go to your local paint/autobody supply store and have them mix up a small amount of the paint to match your truck. they should know where the paint code is located. and as far as prep work... get some painters tape and tape off anything you dont want painted and then take a 3M scuff pad and scuff the area to be painted to a dull finish. you dont want it to be shiney. if it is then the new material wont stick. then clean it with a good precleaner/degreaser and good clean cloth and then your ready for sealer. spray your sealer let it flash for a few min.. then spray your base in 1 coat stages till you have proper coverage let flash and then spray clear. all this should be done in a clean well ventalated area.

that is a pretty quick explaination. its a little more complecated than just throwing some paint on it and sticking it back on. but in a nut shell thats it.
