Taking Off Side Molding?

I want to take the FUGLY chrome side molding off the side of my Laramie (hopefully mine, I should get it tomorrow), but I have a couple of questions...

What holds it on there? A Heavy Duty Glue? Really strong strips of double sided tape?? How would I go about removing them?

And has anyone done it? It is possible to make it look like they were never there...right? I odn;t wanna start pulling them off to find an ugly permanent surprise underneath.

If anyone does not know what i'm talking about, here is the pic of the truck I'm talking about:

I'm talking about those chrome strips on the bottom of both dorrs, a foot up from the nerf bars. Thanks for any help

Easy deal. They're held on with glue. I took mine off the day I got the truck. I simply got underneath the molding with a piece of fishing line, pulled up an end, and SLOWLY pulled each one off. It helps when its a hot day.

Take off the residue with adhesive remover, but remember that this chemical dries paint badly, so make sure to wax the area heavily afterwards.

rubbing alcohol takes the glue off, rub it on, let it sit for a few minutes then take a sponge and rub it off, worked great, just pulled mine off my 99, looks way better

use an adhesive eraser wheel, SOOOOOOOOO much better than chemicals, doesnt to ANY damage to the paint (visible or drying it out). you put it in a drill and you will be surprised how well it works.

I would recommend using one of these. Check your local parts store, they MIGHT have one if not check a body shop supply store. It just rubs the stuff right off. Chemicals are harsh on the paint

dont mean to get off topic here, but that is a really good looking truck. Do you have any more pics of it? Or do you know what setup its running?

Again sorry to get off topic. I think itll look better with them off as well.

Good Luck!
