Replace vs. Repair
On the driver's side front fender, I've got about a foot long dent. It looks like they ran the fender down someone's bumper. Basically, it's creased about 1/2" down. Trying to figure out (since I need to get the whole truck painted soon) if it's cheaper to have the bodyshop guy repair it, or just buy a good used one. I lucked out on the pass. side and found one for $45 with the inner fender attached. It was black, but the guy started sanding it and never finished. Don't know if that was a killer deal, but I'm sure they would charge more than that to bondo/sand it or pound it out. Thoughts?

I was thinking about buying a good used one. The truck needs painting, so I don't care what color. I guess I could black primer it to blend in. I'm going to tool around with the one I take off. See if I can pound it out. It's not as bad as I thought. It's about 1/8" deep. That's really all that's wrong. I think the headlight mounts are busted, but who knows. It'll give me something to do in my spare time. Might even try to fill and sand it. Guess I need to invest in a body hammer and dolly. Anyone know how much a good set goes for?
