Most "kits" should be ok to use. if you just wanted to use a cutting compound and a polishing compound you should be good, too.

The 3M kits are the best!!! I have used three of their kits on my vehicles. For $18-20 bucks its the best bet for your money.

Just just some rubbing compound, thats what I used on my sport lights. Worked great!

Use the 3M kit but keep everything wet (ie wet sand). I did this to both my VW Jetta and my truck, came out looking brand new.
