need some rear bumper ideas

So i am having a real hard time looking at these $1200 dollar rear bumpers for my 02 knowing i am a full time welder/fabricator for a large trailer company...Have a great steel yard few miles from the house...Kinda thinking of picking up a stock bumper and somewhat building off of it as i dont want to be running around with nothing back there..Heres the run down 3 months ago guy backs into me in a parking lot, crumples the rear bumper but doesnt hit the bed, 1 month ago guy rearends me finishes off the bumper, goes under my lifted truck, mows down my exhaust tip and folds the rear section of my exhaust..So insurance company is still screwing around, luckily i hadnt found a new bumper after the first time so i'm just trying to get my exhaust fixed..
What i'm looking for is somewhat of a mix between a alien patrol but still look right on a sport package ram, anyone have pics of homemade ones? My goal is since apparently my bright silver lifted dodge has a target on the back of it the next person that rearends me i want they're car to be towed away cause the bumper doesnt give. Plan on seeing what it looks like body color to somewhat keep the sport appearance but may consider having my buddy speed line it. Guess if it comes out good i should build a jig up to it and start putting some together me and a few of the colorado guys were discussing the amount of money a guy could make building quality bumpers for alot cheaper than the big brands

Man that looks pretty good, thats around what i want to do, maybe with a few more "angles" i guess you'd call em, great example though, clean enough to look like it belongs and beefy enough to be on the back of a cummins

Well just a update, got a bunch of steel for the project, going rate for scrap at my shop is under 2 cents a pound, got a few 8' strips, 12" wide, 8" wide 4" wide and a 2" wide should be more than enough came out to just under 80 pounds so our purchasing dept just told me to take it would have been like $1.80 Which beats the hell outta new material at 80 bucks a sheet threw my company. Thinking my machine here may just be used for tacking, gotta hobart but its a pretty low Duty cycle, may get a good tack on everything and take it to work and run it on my big machines Cant wait to get rolling, got the garage cleaned up, welding cart finished so i'm not dragging the machine and bottle around, finishing a coupler lock for my trailer so that can sit outside with my sled on it when i'm working on it... May go pick up a oxy cutting oufit tomorrow came across a great deal on one on craigs

I used a 4 X 8 tube cut a wedge out of each end to make it 4 inches at the ends. Looks decent and made a good air tank for the on board air.

What thickness steel are you using? I used regular bi metal blades for the sawzall and it cut the steel surprisingly fast and clean...

I guess the torch you bought should do the job though.. Let's see some pics.
