Lift pump

I have been reading up on the dodge lift pump problem. I am not new to the diesel world but i am still new to the diesel performance world. I have an 02 cummins with 107k miles on it. I put a diablo puck on it but you cant really do much until i figure something out on the pump. Can someone give me some advice as to what i need to look at replacing it with and the labor required.

Thanks.

replacing the lift pump or injection pump? the lift pump is easy to replace... you have your fuel line coming into and out of the pump of course, an electrical connector and 3 little bolts.... you'll also have to bleed the system of course

i am running the holly blue and replaced everything with the vulcan draw straw and big line relo kit. everything ran me around 350 and as for labor i did it myself. also purchase a fuel pressure guage because that is a must , well actually this whole setup is a must for the vp powered trucks. As for the pump itself there are a lot of them out there and fass and airdog would prolly be the best but are high dollar. i didn't want to pay that much so went this route. If you plan on bombing the truck you MUST upgrade the fuel system and aquire guages!

The best lift pump solution, and not surprisingly, the most expensive, is a FASS system or Airdog. For up to 450HP, check out the FASS HFPF 95.

Ok two more questions and ill quit bothering you guys thanks for all the help already. What programmers chips tuners are the best once my pump can handle the power cause most of them i looked at before buying the puck are all small 50-60 horse or so. when i had my 06 everything is up in the 100s or more. And what is a good clutch to use when i start adding all this power. thank you

On the VP pumped trucks, the programmers can't add a whole lot through timing and fuel curve. To get all the pump can put out, you need to get a box like the Juice or Adrenaline that "tap the pump wire", then you can get more.

If you are going to be adding power, I would definitely get gauges and a FASS system.

On the clutch, South Bend and Valair are the two most common brands used in these trucks, both are sponsors of the Forum.

You'll need to know you HP goal and decide if you are going to tow or pull before you pick a clutch. The SB 13" CON OFE is a single disk clutch good up to 450HP or so, which is about all you can get out of a VP truck with a box, injectors and single turbo. It is a very street friendly clutch.

Im not wanting to get crazy with the power because i still pull goosenecks and a fifth wheel quite a bit i just wanna be able to run decent and blow some smoke when id like so do you think that clutch would be the best for towing and for the higher horse power

My top picks are the Adrenaline and the Edge Comp for modules on the 2nd gen. You can still tow by just using the lower power levels and when you are ready to play or smoke, just turn the volume up.

Definetly go with a aftermarket fuel pump or system like the FASS.

Are they both in the $600-$700 dollar range? What does the fass run? Thanks
