05 with high EGT"S not sure why

I have an 05, 3500 4x4 with an intake, 4 in. exhaust turnin 35's, with nothing other than an aero turbine resinator. But after adding the edge juice with attitude I can't seem to keep it any where near cool. On level 1-5 I can spike the EGT's at 1300 deg. in about 3 seconds with hard acceleration. My buddy has the same truck and set up but is an 03 and he can't get his over 1250 deg. Anyone have any words of wisdom?

You're right he does have the older motor. My other buddy has an 06 with the edge and he gets hot but not as fast as me.

do you have a boost gauge? check your boost and make sure its not low. Check your hoses and make sure you don't have a boost leak

Do you have an aftermarket turbo? The stock turbo shouldn't be seeing those numbers. The stock turbo is only efficient to 35-40 psi and 40 is getting close. Do you have your wastegate disabled or something? That could be your problem right there...your turbo is just making hot air

Well I'm really not sure. Just got this truck a couple weeks ago. It had a programmer in it because the pyro. hole was already drilled. It appears to be the stock turbo as well. As far as performance goes it runs well, it's just that before the truck gets out of 2nd gear it would be way over 1350 degrees if it didn't have it set to defuel. That worries me.

Those boost numbers are definitely past the efficiency range of the stock turbo and that is probably what is causing your high egts. How high do you have your edge set when you are seeing these numbers?

Its usually on level 4 or 5 and the max boost is set at 45lbs. Also noticed that if I turn the max boost down to say 20lbs it does nothing and goes right on up to 40 again.

I think maybe your wastegate is disabled and/or stuck shut. That would be a reason that you are seeing high boost numbers and it could also be the reason that the edge is unable to open it at 20 psi when the max boost is set at 20. Try running the edge on 0 and see what you get for boost and EGTs

will definately try that. Is there a way I can visually see if the wastegate is disabled?

You know, I really have no idea. Im not really well versed in the subject of wastegates But Im pretty sure that the common rails just have an electronic wastegate so you wouldn't be able to see if it was disabled via the ECM but you would if it was just unplugged
