Biodiesel Blues

Anyone want a BioPro 150 and a ton of biodiesel stuff? lol no not really, well maybe..........

Everyone knows the trouble i had at first with the 150 and I dont know it its just me or what but it never gets better for me. Out of a 55 gal barrel of methanol i have gotten 2 maybe 3 batches (35-40 gal batches). The current batch is from the same source as always, it has been fine on water in the past. Everything looked fine until it came time for the glycerin to settle out well it never did just a big glump of white stuff on the bottom.

It just seems to always be something that makes me wast methanol or KOH or oil or something. I really feel like this right now with the whole thing.

Maybe i should jsut put it all on craigslist and see what happens.

Tex,

Did you learn how to titrate your oil?
I'd start there. It helped us tremendously. We titrate every batch now.

my friend is doing the bio-diesel and has been running 100% bio for about 2 months the titration is very important. don't skip this step. i think once you do that things will get better for you

i under stand the titration stuff......one of the reasons i got a biopro is bc they preach that you dont need to do a titration........it will handle up a 16 titration or somethin like that the actual # might be higher or lower. POINT is that was one (a small one) thing that was a plus for the biopro when i was going threw the process of pickin which mechine/system to buy.

and I know getting it all down and running smoothly takes time and error. but all my wife has seen is about 3 tanks of biodiesel, a TON of wasted oil and materials oh ya and the fact that we have spent thousands of dollars. (try to see it in her eyes) a lot of money in and not much out.

im with yall and see it different but..............she who has the checkbook has the power...........

Please keep me updated on your progress. I have been wanting to invest in a BioPro for the last few months and I am very curious to hear all about the good and bad things you are finding with it. I purchased the Diesel Secret product, but am too afraid to use it so I am back to the BioPro idea.

We were in the same boat Tex. Once we started titrating we have had perfect batches. We're making so much bio-diesel I just ordered 220 gallons of methanol (4 55 gallon drums). We're heating the house with the stuff now. So far the oil heater likes it too! If needed, PM me and I'll give you my # and walk you through titration.

Titrating is CHEAPER than GO-NO GO kits! You can make your own go no go kits out of your titrating solution. I do go no go when I'm collecting from a new source and then titrate after de-watering for 12 hours minimum regardless of what the oil looks like.

Hang in there.

well ill try and list the bad bc that what really matters on such a $$$ item:

----the pop up things that let u know when you have put in enough methanol DO NOT WORK. they replaced them once and the new ones dont work either. FIX-i just measure out how much methanol i need to put in each time(ones 4.* gal and the other 3.* gal) total crap bc it is so much easier to just add methanol until the thing pops up. BUT IT DOSENT POP UP and you will put to much methanol bc you cant pump the hand crank and look into the tank at the same time.

i forgot---my pop up floats were not labled and were installed backwards from what the owners book shows. OH heck thats another thing. for $6,000 you get a black and white owners manual and the directions offten refer you to look at the pics for ex or whatever. one says that the oil should look like pic #* how in the heck can you ever tell wht it looks like its in black and white. Many times the must have cut and pasted from the biopro 190 manual bc you reading along and its says your biopro 150 then it will say your 190. again small things to some but for $6K come on-some color copies to much to ask?

---my 150 was scratched up a bit on the front(bc of shipping im sure) whatever it just looks bad i just want the thing to work

---the mist sprayer thing for water wash leaked----i just tightened it up with a wrench

---the rubber o-rings used on the bolts on top of the 150 i guess are not compatiable with veggie oil or something bc once they get oil on them they turn into mush and if you try and wipe off your 150 it gets nasty black stuff everywhere, and it dosent wash off your hands very easy either(during the drying process you have to leave the lid off, the heat is on and the stir thing is going so oil splashes out of the top and get on pretty much everything(top, black housing of all the elec stuff, wall if its next to one, and floor)

cant think of anything else right now

some of these things may seem small to some ppl but remember i paid $6,000 SIX THOUSAND dollars for it.

premium price = premium product to me

Wow that really sound bad! I hope DUO CORE can help you get the bugs worked out.

The premise sounds good and I have a ton of WVO to work with.

I have horrible luck with most projects so if you are having alot of trouble, I will probably not do much better.
