CNG has about 1/2 the btu per gallon as Diesel. I read some of Mark Deluca's threads on another forum and he stated propane worked better, this was a few months ago so my info may not be current. Propane has a lot more energy than CNG. It is also much lower pressure, like 10 times less pressure. If I lived in Utah where natural gas was 1/3 of California I would check it out, There would be no savings for me here. 38mpg is very respectable.

I would like to see a write up on someone who has done this. There are 3-4 CNG stations in a 15-20 mile radius from me which is more than Ultra low sulfer diesel which is sad but true! I see some pictures on the delutia weg page. I spoke to him and he said the gas is under a vacuum so if it gets torn off the front of the engine it will suck back into the tank. It looks like both the Federal goverment and the state of MD where I live have tax incentives for CNG setups for auto use. I think the most expensive part will be the tank. i see used ones on ebay ranging from 100-1000 and new tanks I have been told are about 3600.00 in carbon fiber

Just lost my supplier of oil for brewing bio-D.
Have not been in a big hurry to find another yet - taking a little brake.

This is very interesting.

I have been talking to people up the food chain where I work about this. They are in the process of trying to convert gasoline vehicles to CNG. They where very interested in what we are trying to do. The CNG bottle doesnt bother so much riding in the truck. Its no worse than a nitrous bottle if you ask me. Just a lil more flammable in the right enviroment. No really though I agree that if you protected the valve you would be ok. I would maybe even go as far as to make a small cage for the tank in the bed and have it permantly mounted. I will try it out on my truck. The 2 biggest things I see holding us back are one gettin a regulator to bring it down form 3000psi to whatever we want to inject in the motor. Maybe an adjustable regulator off a torch??? And also What pressure and jet size should we run??? Trial and error I guess.

As big as those bottles are I would have to paint it like a Nitrous bottle just to mess with people lol see what they think But I am really interested in this setup I seen the pics of the fiber bottles big and seem to hold up But I would like to talk to someone in person see whats up esp with them cold temps here in the winter see what he does then.

Hey guys I see that we were already talked about here so I will kinda clear up some stuff for ya. CNG is the best thing that has happened to diesel trucks for a long time now. My 6.7 was getting 11-12 with 35s. Now 22-28 in town with around 100 horse on top of that. Also lower egts. It was a pain to give up some bed space for the tank but not enough of a pain for me not to get that mileage. You can check out our blog on our site and see some of the results that we have posted for different diesels. You do have to fill up you CNG tank at least 2 to 3 times before you will run out of your diesel, but that also depends on how many gallons of CNG that you are carrying around. I have about 15 gallons and I fill up once maybe twice if I am pulling any trailers. Feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email.

Marc is working his tail off to produce more and more kits. Most of the kits that we get are already presold and installed. The major cost is the kit of course and also the tank. The tanks cost anywhere from 1,000 to 4,000 depending on how old they are and the size. Also all of the fitting that you need are a little pricey. We charge right around 6,000 for just about everything you need including our labor.

What is the name of the shop that does CNG injection in Utah? I have found some smaller used tanks for cheap and I was thinking of doing the CNG injection. Marc DaLuca sells the kits, does the shop in Utah sell a kit?
