Been an amsoil guy all my life and soon to be a dealer, the best example i have is my dad has a mid 70's chain saw and has ran amsoil in it it's whole life, i took it apart a couple years ago, and the hone marks were still in the cylinder walls. royal purple is a good product too don't get me wrong there, but i'd rather have amsoil imho. they've been around for alot longer and they were the first in synthetics.

It sounds like amsoil is a really good product to. I dont know which one to use and you both have great stories it is making it tough on me to decide which is better. I do know i see royal purple marketed a lot more on tv shows, websites, etc. as opposed to amsoil. In all honesty they are probably about the same. Does anyone else have an opinion on which is better or any stories. Also if you know of another brand or vote other and think it is a better product let us know.

the reason they are marketed more is because they are willing to pay more to get their product out there, amsoil imho seems to want to be more descreet and only want the people who truely know their product to use it. but yes both products are about the same.

I've got Amsoil in both diffs, transfer case and the manual tranny. Not in the engine. No problems at all. Don't know that I'll use it the next time I do the "under" truck stuff though. You darn near have to be royalty to afford the stuff now!!!

Been using Rotella 5w40 but might give Amsoil a try. Thing is I have been getting good results with Rotella and it's quite a bit cheaper.
