NO GATES HOSES for biodiesel

Been using Goodyear fuel/emmission hose for years running biodiesel, no problem. Got new hose in stock a while back and didn't notice the change of manufacturer. Just found my excavator hoses had gotten REALLY REALLY nasty. Sweating, squishy, and tar like stuff coming off. No Gates fuel hoses. Back to the parts store tomorrow for something else. Hopefully Goodyear.

The real bummer is I just did all the hoses on my truck recently, too. Off they come!

Well, I'm glad to hear you swear by the goodyear fuel/emission hose. I just installed 1/2" lines from the tank to the engine. Glad you've not had and issues with them. As they'll be a section of mine (about a foot) that will see WVO.

I dunno that I'd SWEAR by the Goodyear hose, but I will say that I have used it on a lot of stuff, and it's been exposed inside and out to bio, and though I don't think the outer is supposed to hold up to it, the only thing I have noticed with the Goodyear hoses is that they get a little stiff over time. I still can't believe I didn't catch the change of hose, it was pretty obvious once I looked. I don't remember for sure the details on the Goodyear stuff, but I know I researched it when I first started using the stuff, right when I went bio, and if memory serves (often it doesn't) it is viton lined.

PS I pulled the lines today, and the FF. Ho boy, this was a big mistake. I pulled about 1/2 cup of what looks like lap cement (roof tar) out of the water seperator, and the return lines from the injectors were gummed up. It was a NIGHTMARE to prime, and for a half hour, nothing flowed past the return lines. Siphoned off the tank and refilled with b99 (that's what I get delivered) and it cleaned out in about 5 minutes. Whew! Big mistake! Now I have to find some good return line hoses. The lines are 1/8". Dang. Could be worse...

A smart man learns from his mistakes. A WISE man learns from other men's mistakes...
