fuel additives

hey new to this forum have just a simple question for you guys. I have a 07 ram with the 6.7 cummins in it, will adding additives to the fuel hurt the engine or will it help it the reason I ask is because well I have to only use the ultra low sulfur diesel and they told me at the dealership that if I burn anyother diesel it will hurt the engine so I didnt know if the fuel addiive would add back to the fuel what was taken out in the first place that makes it ultra low sulfur fuel

power service's "diesel kleen" says it is approved for use in ulsd, my 5.9 runs quiter and better mpg with it. you need low sulphur fuel and low ash oil in 6.7's best bet is to get rid of dpf and egr garbage

I ran deisel kleen for like 20k miles straight. I noticed nothing. Waste of money is all i saw. Just run some bio once in a awhile. I run b15 alot as theres a pilot station in ocala fl im always passing through to fill up for my long trips and all they carry is b15.

When they changed to low sulfer I did not us additives and I started to notice my truck getting slower and loosing power? I did not know what the problem was a friend of mine told me to put in some Additives and I bought some Diesel Kleen in Walmart after about a month my truck was running like normal and was getting .15 sec better times in the 1/4 mile runs. I'm a big beeaver now and it goes in every tank!!!! Money well spent IMHO!!!

There was a huge study on this awhile back- couple threads on it

This was one of the best performers, and best bang for the buck:

John F. Jensen: Opti-Lube Summer Diesel Fuel Additive

Warning- alot of the products reviewed were a total waste with no performance/lubricity improvement.

Run additives. Cheap insurance. If you get a 1/2 of 1% mpg gain they are free.

But sometime you gain nothing but knowing some additives excel over others you at least know you expessive fuel system is protected...
