Mixed veggie and lard???
Hi, Just curious, in my search for a source for used veggie oil, I found a resturant that cooks fries in a mix of lard and veggie oil. I am thinking that the lard should resolidify in the waste oil container and then I could just take the veggie oil out. Could this possibly cause me problems if I try to use this as a source for used oil? Should I just keep looking? Thanks God bless... Mark

You can use it as is, but your filter plugging temperature will not be as low as with straight veggie. I've heard that lard and animal fats have a bit more "kick" than veggie, but should only be used as a summer fuel.

The lard wouldn't by chance come from a bakery would it? I've heard that's not the best of oils to use since the items fried in it usually contain sugar. It's "sticky" and sugar is something you don't want combusting in the engine.

source...
Hi, It comes from the french fry cooking of the best Chicsgo style sandwich shop in Tucson! (A little reminder of home while still living in the desert) So, wouldn't the lard recoagulate at temps below 120deg? I am thinking that I wouldn't have to worry about the cold filter plugging issue, if it is semi solid and I just pull out the liquid veggie. God bless... Mark
