1. People will steal them.
2. It's technically not legal since I'm not paying road use tax.
3. Having a BBQ tank with hoses, valves, and wires laying around isn't the most pleasing view.

Science proves it doesn't work. For every one person who sees an improvement in mileage there's countless who don't (that's not the science). Adding hydrogen won't increase your mileage.

On another note, the propane is very interesting.

Adding hydrogen will increase your mileage all the way to the moon.

It's just that using Diesel to make the hydrogen decreases your mileage more than the hydrogen increases your mileage...

But the hydrogen-fumigation concept was never based on thermodynamics. The theory was that it would increase the efficiency of the burn of the injected Diesel. Which on newer trucks, is negligible...

You should really use a Woodward Model N series regulator/vaporizer. It only allows propane to flow into the engine when there is a very slight negative pressure on the the output side of the regulator. This will gaurantee that no propane leaks into the engine when its not running.

Use that with a Hobbs normally open pressure switch, PN 76573 4NO. It comes set @4psi, but is adjustable from 2-6 psi.

You also can not use the typical propane tank fitting like a grill has to connect the tank, Theres a special fitting that screws into a BBQ tank so the system will work properley, I forgot the name of it...oops. You can get it @ Homedepot though.

I will post a few pics of my entire setup this weekend for a better idea. I made a quickie diagram of my setup for you to see and get an idea.

I use my setup alot!! It works great with no problems yet.

If you have any questions Ill be happy to try to help.

Why would there need be a hobbs switch in your setup? If the propane will only be sucked in when theres a slight vacuum. Then that should remove the need of the hobbs switch. Just wire the solenoid to arm/disarm the system. Unless there's enough vac at idle to draw it?

hobbs switch

I'm researching for my setup still, but the hobbs is what tells the regulator to allow propane into the intake. If there is no vacuum, the hobbs will not tell the regulator to open. Without the hobbs, the regulator will stay closed.

The Hobbs switch is there to protect against propane being injected at too low of a boost psi. Mine is set for 5 psi. Thats about the minimum you can go on boost to safely inject propane. So even with the toggle switch on, no porpane will enter the intake until 5psi of boost is built.

There are two things you need to safe guard against with propane.
A: Leakage into the intake when the engine is not running
B: Propane at low boost.

The negative pressure regulator covers A, the hobbs covers B.

Have you ever heard of a nos backfire in a diesel. It happens often when NOS is introduced into the engine at low boost.

Well since NOS is not a fuel you only get a backfire from it, porpane is a fuel so you dont have a propane backfire, you get a propane KABOOM! Hence, Hobbs in the intake.

I hope this helps a little bit. If I am incorrect in any way anyone feel free to correct me, Im just stating what others have told me.

Isnt 5psi a bit high? If this is for MPG then you want the system to be on while cruising ~55-65 and I dont know about yalls trucks but I dont see but 3psi at 55 and 4-5psi at 65. I set my switch at 2psi so we will see what happens when I get the system installed.

Well mine's at about 5psi when I cruse as well. Guess every truck is different. Good thing with these are that they're adjustable.
