Becareful there... thats a very wide brush your painting with there...

Yes its true a P-pump cummins can do it easy...

But the 24V crowd is if'y to doing this because of the injection pump problems and injectors problems on 3rd Gens... And those are not a dime a dozen there more like $1,000 to $2,000 bucks to replace...

When we where having problems finding diesel up here in alberta I started running used GMA 40 Low Ash Natural gas engine oil 50/50 with either kerosene or diesel whatever was available, and had no problems in the 1990. The truck actually got 2mpg better and smoked less under load, at idle was a different story lots of smoke when she cooled off. Gotta take note that the oil is low ash to begin with and almost no carbon from the engine, heck it hardly changes color from the new stuff just the additives are depleted so we change it. And an oil change for me means 1000L at a shot so lots to play with.

Ugh...36 pages, my eyes hurt. This is a very interesting thread, lots of good info. As stated a few times finding a good source of used oil is probably a good idea, I worked at a few stealerships in the past. Everything under the sun went into our storage tanks right down to the cleaner we used to strip the oil and grease off of our floors. Is there anyone with a really good filtration system (i.e. centrifuge + 0.5 micron bags + magnets etc.) willing to send a sample of their filtered oil for analysis? I'm curious to see what is left behind after you do you magic, maybe then we could focus on filtering out those materials and make an even better process. I'm willing to try this out with a little more technical backbone or as Moparman1973 stated. Calculate what mixtures work in what temps and what your MPG's are at those mixtures etc. Keep up the good work guys!

Not a good source of WEO/WMO at all

Is there anyone with a really good filtration system (i.e. centrifuge + 0.5 micron bags + magnets etc.)

Magnets are good for steel. But how about aluminum, brass, cooper, etc??

willing to send a sample of their filtered oil for analysis?

This is the best thing to do... But also should take several mix rates and have them HFRR tested too!

That's the thing it can be a good source of fuel or a way to pad your fuel with a cheap filler. But there is no guidelines or anything...

On a personal note...
At least with all the battles and thread of 2 cycle oil and testing done by hundreds of thousnads of people we got it figured out to what works and what does not work...

Lonewolf i am with you on using it for heating, power generation etc no problem,I don't see the science or logic yet for using it in a diesel vehicle,Ok mabe if a person is also a good mechanic and can fix everything themselves it could work out, sort of,but try to convinse someone who is gifted and well edjucated mechanically to try it and I find they won't. So free will tells me to err on the side of caution.Just as it has over the last 10 years not to buy into subprime, derivatives, cdo's,conspicuous consumption, instant gratification, easy credit, and the other traps that are making this a complete disaster. One could conclude that millions of people can be easily influenced and don't think things through becaue it is what they want to hear, another thought is very few people were standing up to it and calling it the rubbish it is.I think the best advice anyone could give a person behind the eightball right now transportation wise is buy the best quality most fuel efficient vehicle you can buy and put clean fuel in it. To all... in the 911 section their is an interesting thread called 4500 Warranty Issue,it was started by Jimmy111,it delves into the murky waters of contaminated fuels, engine damage, voided warranties, huge costs, broken down on the road far from home, could be a country song about free will and the blues,or it could be true

most of my breakdowns were caused by:
early development of on board filtering system failures
ratio of mix too high in cold weather
testing of different filter media
air leaks in suction side of fuel system

At this point I have successfully developed an economical and usable on board filter
for a mix up to about 75/25 wmo/#2diesel

I am now developing a heating unit to cook the water and antifreeze out of the oil

I will start running wmo/diesel mix again in march

centrifuge filters seem like a good option for de-watering and 1 micron filtration.

Centriguges are costly and only effective to filter the soot out mostly and the 1 micron-part..... I have one and i don't believe it . Filtering water and coolant out of the oil is as i believe only possible by cooking it out as TXTowman says ...I hope also to be driving on WMO again by march ...
