yall prolly seen this already but just wonderin what yall thought about it? according to this rotella synthetic is better than AMSOIL and cheaper!I had made up my mind to run all AMSOIL fluids until i saw this. Somebody smarter help me out.
we've been running the blue jug rotella in our motorcycles for a year or so and they are still kicking. It hasn't even hurt the clutch. Had been running amsoil for years before that but you can't get that stuff off a track if you have a nasty crash. It is great oil but it leaves a slick spot.

I'm sure not gonna badmouth Amsoil, I hear it it good stuff. But I run Rotella T Syn in my CTD, wife's Tahoe, tractor and both Harleys and couldn't be happier. $16.96/gal @ Wally World. I need to find a local to get it in 5 gal. buckets.

No, I wasn't sayin that Cat. I just wanted to make sure folks knew I wasn't. You know how it is, you praise one product and someone thinks you are puttin the other down. Some folks are mighty thin skinned these days. It's easier to clear everything up to start with than to have to tell em to stick it later on.

That TDR test was flawed for many reasons that I've critiqued before on this forum. Rotella is only a Group III synthetic, not a Group IV like AMSOIL. They also tested the 5W40, which only has a TBN of 8. Had they tested the HDD 5W30 or AME 15W40, the AMSOIL would have won. The writers of that test didn't want AMSOIL to win. I've been a member of TDR since 2003 and this isn't the first time they've been wrong about things. The test was flawed, ill-conceived, and biased. Oils were chosen by one guy for his own reasons. Manufacturers were not allowed to submit or choose which of their products should be considered.
I'll be right here, running AMSOIL because it IS the best and has been proven in many more ways for more years that that TDR idiocy.

I did noticed that it listed Amsoil as having a CI-4+ 5w40 oil, the funny part is Amsoil only make a CJ-4 oil in 5w40 weight. I use Amsoil 5w30 HDD (it was not in the above linked PDF) and based on my UOA reports I will keep using there oil. BTW at 7K the UOA report showed I still had a TBN of 10.01 so I see no reason for me to even think about changing to a different brand of oil.

I have a quick question while on the topic of synthetics. A buddy told me that none of oils out there last as long with the newer low sulfur diesel. I was planning on doing an oil change with Amsoil I bought, but he said that it wouldn't be a good idea to let it go 15k miles with the new fuel. Any truth to this?
