well you could do one of two things:

1. Run the WVO as a fuel which would require a secondary fuel system with strainer, filters and heater. EG. Grease Car

2. Or brew your own biodiesel with it but you will need the quipment...eg. heating tank, methanol, lye etc etc...

I hope this helps.

Check out the Frybrid web site forums. The Frybrid system is one of the best, but lots of people make their own systems. The systems work like this. You start on diesel, the radiator fluid heats the vegi oil, once it's to temperature a three way switch changes the diesel to veggie. The veggie is kept in a tank by it self. Before you shut down, you throw switch to switch back to diesel to purge the veggie oil. There are many ways of accomplishing these basics, but they are all basically covering the above steps.

There are also people who make bio diesel out of veggie oil, Bio is made by separating the oil into two parts with lye and heat. Then one part you can pump right into your tank like diesel or in adddition to the diesel.

There are pros and cons to both Pure Veggie and Bio and you can do both if you choose. There are some concerns about corrosion, fuel gelling, and polermizorization <sp>. All the problems have work arounds.

I would go with Homebrew biodiesel but I am partial to that since I run it in our 2 diesels.

Shoot me a pm and I can send you a few good links on Biodiesel.

Check out PlantDrive.com

I've been looking at this system for my PSD until I have been more interested in going Cummins! I've heard ALOT of great things - check out the testimonial section too. Also - call some of the installers (from the website) and talk to them about the systems installed. You get alot more information that way. With SVO/WVO - the systems primary expense is a seperate fuel tank ($500 - $800) and the hardware for the truck. For my PSD it would have been roughly $3000 installed by an installer in Charlotte NC. Free WVO, 2- 55 gallon drums and a few misc bits of pipe, retrofitted heater for the steel drum (one steel one poly) and I'm up and running WVO and not paying anything for diesel but once every 6 weeks. You start on Diesel and stop on diesel. Everything else is WVO/SVO. Heating systems vary from recirculating your engine coolant to seperate 12v heaters. It's best to check these systems out considerably. Call the installers - ask if they know anyone - like end users - that you could talk to.

A $3000 investment is quickly claimed back in fuel savings over 6 - 12 months! My PSD takes $120 - $140 per week to keep running on Diesel. Switching to WVO would save me roughly $500 per month in fuel savings. Within 6 months - I would have reclaimed my investment - after that its all savings.

I think there is Dino Fuel Alternative as another option too.

What kind of pump/filter set up are you guys using to suck the WVO out of the resturants barrels? I need a pump that is DC and a filter that will filter water and will not get clooged for running WVO through it.
