Yup, when you first switch over to biodiesel it will tend to break up any scum in your tank and put it in your filter. Mine looked the same after a couple tanks as well, now I can go once a year before I change them. It's not that I have to change them, its just good maintenance and piece of mind. I got a 12 filters for 40 bucks on ebay couple years ago, that's pretty cheap compared to replacing your vp44.

nope, I was going to join the BioD Coop here. They had a delivery to your house, all you had to do was provide a pump. They came and filled your 55 Gallon barrel when you asked. Just when I was going to pull the trigger they started selling B99 at a pump in town. It is now on a cardlock through Pacific pride. I'll gladly pay extra for them to hassle with the collection, processing, taxes, and I get to keep my garage space.

Is there a need to change any hoses or other fittings?
I've run b20 2 times, and that's only because I was in an area that was selling it. (It was a few cents cheaper.) If it was at the local station I would put it in.

Didn't notice anything different-albeit-I wasn't paying that much attention.

diesel vehicles made after 1995ish are all supposed to be fine with % of BioD. To answer your question, high % of BioD may over time make your hoses soft.

By then you will have wanted to change them anyway, like I had to do to an older pickup I had for 25 years.

Thanks jefff929.

I keep asking the chemistry teacher at school to set up a biodiesel lab/station and sell the stuff to the community. Talk about the school giving back to the community! And, with "global warming" and the town winning all sorts of "green" awards-what a major coup!

bio?

Hey arcoen, I just want to clarify that when you say bio do you mean traditional biodiesel which you heat up to remove glycerin and add methanol and lye, or do you mean the dse method found at Diesel Secret Energy - Alternative Biofuel Biodiesel

Why do you say that? I think Dodge warranties to B5 and in industrial motors Cummins claims B20 is fine.
