I run b100 until winter time in my common rail with no problems. It is homebrew. In the winter I run b20-b50. I have run it from the day I bought it.

Pull your head out of your arse jeff. The point is that if you can run it in the most finicky engine that Cummins makes, you can run it in any of them. Thanks for the attention in your attack.

I agree totally, any diesel motor can run it.

It is a bit of a hyjack for the OP when you start adding other info that might confuse someone who doesn't have the info you do.

I hope my attack was taken in the spirit it was provided and not a blow to your delicate psyche.

arcoen,

As ak_cowboy has pointed out you can run Bio in even in climates that are not moderate. However, if you even think you will visit one of these areas you need to look at the ambient temperatures or you might end up with a tank slushy. I encourage you to find out the recommended mix for the temperatures you will run in.

Have a set of fuel filters available, under the seat is best.

Your processor will need careful attention. I wouldn't give up if you have a source, the time, and the space to devote to production. I encourage you to educate yourself and continue your quest.

Many first time users/producers have made mistakes and done bad things, like making a tank slushy, and produced negative feedback on the product and process. IMO this is a load of crap, because they didn't take the time to find out what they should have known, don't fill up with B99/100 in the winter in Cheyenne, WY and expect your truck to run for long. Don't take shortcuts in processing, if your processor tank is not done settling, go buy #2, you don't want it to continue its process in the bottom of your truck tank.

No I was not trying to hijack, just to clarify that I have a Common Rail so my motor MAY, but I don't think it is likely, act a little differently.

There is a test called a phlip test that works to test how well reacted the biodiesel is. You put 3ml of biodiesel into 27ml of methanol. If anything falls out of suspension, you do not have fully reacted biodiesel and there is free glycerine in the fuel and that will contribute to wearing out your injector nozzles. If you are buying commercial biodiesel that cannot pass this simple test, they shouldn't even be in business because their fuel sucks.

great info

Keep the info coming- it's hard to find the truth from real people about bio. The couple of things I have learned is to have a way to monitor fuel pressure- or you will be replacing both fuel pumps, and quality of the bio just like any other fuel has to be of good quality. This is the first time after many hours of researching this- that I have heard of better mpg's. I have gotten more and better info from here then the dozens of other places I have looked on this subject. Thanks for the help- I'll make sure I continue to post here as I start with bio.

The problems I had is listed below. It's really just fyi.

-fuel pressure sender bad. Leaking from signal posts. Do Not use sender that has rubber diaphram.

-If you run holley, it might leaking on bottom plate. Mine did on b100. Can't recall how long it took. I forgot when I installed it.

-3 plugged filters so far.

Good luck on your research.
Eugene

ps: the 24v will run on undercovered biodiesel. Don't ask how I know.
