Tree DR - Back when the common rail truck was coming out, I was at a Dodge Truck Event and there was an engineer there from Cummins talking about the changes on the new engine. He talked about the injection events. This is what I remember, but I may not be exactly right.

The pilot injection is a small fuel injection event very early. It's purpose is to make the engine run more quiet, among maybe other things. It sort of creates a cushion effect to help the piston slow down and go back the other way ... is the way I understood it, which reduces the noise that one big bang causes in the crank, block, etc. But it works, it makes it much quieter.

As far as the pilot injection shutting off at higher rpms, well ... it's not that it's shutting off, but the engineer said that due to the faster engine speed and especially when the throttle is mashed down, the injectors got to get all the fuel it can get in there. There's just not enough time (and no need for the sound deadening) at that engine speed to multishot. Just got to get it in there.

At least that's how I understood it. It seems like he also mentioned that the VP-44 could do multishots (seems like 2 shots max) too, but that the VP was not robust enough in their (Cummins) opinion to make it work that hard.

Guess there were NO real results, just hype, excitement, and a lot of bells and whistles laying on the floor when it's all over (not to mention beer cans, lol). If ANYONE running one of the hydrogen generators has some positive results running one, could you please post here so we can all get an idea of where this technology is in respect to everyday use in a Cummins-equipped truck.

I've been talking to a chemical engineer here at school and we've been trying to figure out the best solutions to use to make the most amount of HHO. Nothin definitive yet. I'll talk to another guy before too long. I plan on building my own in the near future... but an exam every day of the week and a huge presentation on Thursday are gonna keep me from workin on it this week. When I get it built and tested, ya'll will be the first to hear from me.

I have tried the Mag Drive 11a brick in a 94 Honda Civic, Mileage actually went down. Been playing with it part time. NW Hybrid said to use straight 5% vinagar. That pulls too many amps so I fill the brick with vinager and the a- trap with water and am seeing a slight improvement. I think one needs to regulate the amps to 15 with a pulse width modulator than can run a stronger mix. I am displeased with the quality of the Mag kit paid to have installed and have had issuses with the kit. 1st the a trap leaked, poor glue job. then the relay when out i think because of over amp conditions, melted the insulation on the wires. then the brick leaked and quit, on the third water pump, poor installation an pump was located above the tank. With that said I am building two different generators and will locate pump below reservoir, I will use a 5% solution deluted with 1/2 water to make a 2.5 to 3% solution. I also want to find or make a venturi that I can use to install into my 96 Dodge Diesel after intercooler to have less chance of settling out of Hydrogen. Hydrogen is lighter than air so unless you have a strong air stream it may just settle to the top of air stream in an area that the velocity slows down. I know it will work if you have the right design but am unimpressed with the kits I see out there.

Well, I just finished reading this thread and I can say that I am completely unimpressed. I'm not trying to bust anybody's chops here or anything, just my .02. I am personally getting between 15.4 and 16.3 depending on traffic, and keeping my foot out of the throttle. It's been a while since I've been out on the road for any distance, but when my truck was new I was getting 19+ on the highway. I just don't see that little bit of hydrogen (and oxygen) making much of a difference. Just seems like everyone is throwing out their money on broken parts and supplies.

gfyrasng - I'm not sure if it is this thread or not that I posted basically the same thing as you just did. I'm watching these threads, and so far nobody has been able to post anything regarding improvements in mpg that could be a mathematically distinguishable improvement, beyond just driving in a more efficient manner.

I'm fairly certain that these guys (and I commend them) once they put these systems on their rig are NOT going to drive it like they stole it. So, even if the system has no effect on mpg improvement, I would expect their mpg to go up a little, from their driving consciousness. Kind of like a placebo effect. But I do commend them for their efforts.

Personally, I dislike spending money on fuel. But my opinion is that I am getting a lot more value out of the fuel I'm buying, than I would be getting with these and similar systems.

I hope this works out cause theres no end in sight for fuel prices.

I also think you would have better luck tying in at the intake manifold. Your just heating up the hho by running it thru the turbo and intercooler.

Just a thought. I let my fiance drive my truck for a few days while I was at drill, and she was getting 16.4 mpg on the overhead.
