Diesel Fuel
Hey, I dont know if this is in the right forum, but I saw on the news that part of the reason for the increase in fuel pump prices is the Ethonol Blend that is/will be required by the Goberment. Is this Ethonol product also used in Diesel Fuel Mixture? If not, we may see lower Diesel prices for once !!! Thank you, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum!!

Don't think ethanol is required yet. My understanding on the increase in prices is that Europe is going though a fuel shortage right now and US refiners can make more money exporting over there. Win-win situation for refiners because when they export it causes an artificial shortage here at home and another excuse to raise domestic prices.

Apparently the MTBE additive that they have been using in gasoline has been found to contaminate ground water and is now being phased out. The replacement is ethanol - but it requires a lot more of it and the supply is limited. This is driving up the price of ethanol - and because of that, gasoline. Too bad for the gas-swilling crowd!
