SVO / WVO / BioDiesel Long term results

I'm really interested in running veggie oil or making Bio. I have researched in depth and see the pro's/cons either way. I also have read numerous University studies which all came to the same conclusion short term use is OK long term use resulted in mechanical issues. For those of you running 2003 and newer trucks has anyone put down 30k or more miles running on it? If so have you seen any mechanical issues? Injector failure, coking, cylinder wear, carbon build up, ect? While I want to go this route I'm not interested in major mechanical issues which eat away the $$$ incentive to do it. Give me your experiences and what you are running whether heated oil or made your own Bio. Thanks

I have been researching on this as well. I think the 2 tank svo system is the most effective being that it uses all the wvo without leaving any bi-product. However I have a 06 truck under warranty so I don't think the dealer would like to see all that plumbing and tanks on the truck. So for me right now I just blend a 70% ulsd with 30% 1 micron filtered and dewatered wvo. It runs fine with no start up issues. Above 30% and it will smoke a little on cold starts. I am going to start making biodiesel soon when I get the rest of the equipment. It took me a while to figure out my oil collection system, dewatering system, and filtering system alone. So now that I have that down I can begin on my processor.

this is just my 2 cents...Bio is great for the pre common rail trucks, but I personally will never run any percent bio in my truck again...imagine a french fry goin' through your injector...any kind of debris in the fuel is bad bad for the common rail trucks again that's just my 2 cents

I have run vegetable oil right off the shelf, old motor oil and bio diesel. Truck responded well , lost a little on fuel mileage and would not run old motor oil regularly, but you can do it and never an issue, had 187,000 on those stock injectors.

That is why you filter the wvo down to 1 micron or less. I think I heard that the fuel filter in most trucks only goes down to 2 microns. So in that case my fuel is cleaner than diesel in alot of ppl's fuel tanks. Diesel is so dirty compared to biodiesel. When you start to run bio fuel you have to change your filters frequently because they clog up due to the dirty #2 diesel that the truck was running on. When you run bio fuel your oil doesn't get as dirty because #2 diesel has alot of soot. Like I said on another post the people who say negative things about bio usually are not running bio or never have. Bio fuel used properly is better for your engine period!

You do what you want...I ran 20% Bio and had injector problems soon there after in my 03' had the injectors cleaned everything was fine ran 20% bio again same problem...that's enough proof for me! and I would thank you to not infer that I'm either unknowlegeable or just plain dumb

I really love to see the facts of the problems people are having w/ biodiesel or wvo. Everyone says this and that but no proof.

I'll start. B100 will kill a fuel sender in about 4 months. I can get pictures and I have email confirming this from westech. I also have rma of the first sender from geno's garage.

Now... I finally have money to get my new injectors install. I will have a shop install them next month and report back on the condition of the current injectors w/ pictures. I'll try to detail what I ran since I bought the truck Mar. 06. This should be interesting.

edit: I should mention that I've ran b20/50 since I've bought the truck April 06. Guage installed that same month. No problems until I started running b100 only.

For what it's worth, I've been running B100 in my '99 for the last year and have had zero issues.

Good stuff. Keep the experiences coming. I am going to be doing some fuel testing of some homemade b100 ans see how it stacks up as compared to regular diesel. I'll post results when I get them. Keep the experiences coming whether good or bad. It seems alot of people are doing it but you just don't get the feedback to the long term effects. My personnal opinion is we will be seeing alot of negative effects of ulsd in the near future but time will tell.

I have an 04.5 Dodge with 46K total miles. I converted it to run WVO/SVO at 10K and haven'nt had any problems since. About 25K miles on WVO.
I have a customer with an 03 that I converted at 100K and he now has 160K plus with no problems.

Rover have you pulled any injectors to see how things look? I looked up you web site and the kits look pretty good. What else can you tell us about how things are going with your Dodge conversion? Any pics you can post? Thanks
