Think I'll jump in. I have nearly 30k on my homemade wvo system. I know my signature says 15K but I haven't updated it for awhile. I recently replaced my VP44. I took my IP apart and found the timing piston stuck. I remember when the engine lost power. On a few occasions I had run my IP down to zero pounds for a few seconds.(Yeah, I know, the fuel cools the pump.) The reservoir in the IP holds a couple cups of fuel so I know at zero there was significant heat and lack of lubrication. I think I had about 10K on the wvo system and a total of 65K, when the horsepower dropped. I used to filter rather sloppily, but now I filter down to 2 micron and as you can imagine the fuel is clean. I don't believe you can clean the fuel too much. I changed my injectors to the RV275's when I changed the IP and what a great difference. More power, but even more noticable was the smoothness increase and about 2 mpg better. The stock injectors were clean. Number 6 had a little carbon on it, but none around the nozzle. I would put them right back in the engine if I had to. I moved my campaign lift pump back near the tank on the frame rail along time ago and occasionally I unhook the suction side and blow out the suction straw in the tank. I monitor my fuel pressure very closely and never let it get below 7 or 8 pounds. When I come to a steep hill when towing my 10K fiver, I switch back to dino because of the increase in power is about 10 to 15%. Also, I like to work the engine hard with dino to keep any possibility of carbon build up away. I use MMO/Power whatever-it-is about every other fill up or so. Any of you who run wvo have noticed a real reduction in noise. My theory is that the wvo has to compress more to fire because of the lower BTU content and you lose the pre-ignition rattle we all know so well. I hope this helps some. Remember, its only nuts and bolts. Git'er done.

A friend of mine is an insurance adjuster arround the state of SD. He has a VW Jetta with the TDI for the 40-50 MPG. A couple weeks ago, he let another friend borrow the Jetta to go on vacation because their vehicle broke down the day before their vacation. Well this guy drives truck for a living and almost all diesel fuel nozzles are green at the pumps arround here. He pulls up to a pump, and grabs the green nozzle and fills the tank, but when he pulls the nozzle out he smell gas. Luckily he had a friend in the town that he was in, so he called him up to bring a hose and buckets. To make a long story short, after they syphoned ALL of the fuel/gas out of the tank, there was about two inches worth of sludge in the bottom of the buckets. The Jetta has about 85000 miles on it, and he has NEVER put in Biodiesel in that he knows of. Just wanted to let everyone know that petro fuel isn't as clean as we would like to believe. Josh

petro diesel is very dirty compared to filtered biodiesel. I work on big trucks and sell big truck parts. If you only saw what is in the bottom of those 125-200 gallon tanks, ther is always a layer of black fine sludge.

Three years, some 40,000 miles on B100 in a '01. Before the 3/27 fuel test for unconverted oil was developed I am sure I ran less than perfect B100. That fuel would gell in the filter at the first cold snap. Now that the fuel is fully converted I haven't had that problem, first cold snap on its way. No way I would run SVO in my truck, I collect the oil and know how nasty it can be.

Here is what I have to say. I have a 2006 and ran it in there. I bought it from a guy that I trusted making it and has been making it for almost two years now. Talk about serious problems. Thanks god I am in the car business and know the owners of a dodge store. They had to drop my tank replace lines repair or replace I am not sure but the injectors. I ran it for 4 months and have since never ran it again. Now The same bio was ran in my brothers 97 and his truck was at our diesel mechanics for almost 2 weeks getting all the fats out of the line and out of the tank and injectors. The same bio I ran in my dads 00 ran perfectly fine even after all the problems with both our trucks up untill about 4 months ago when his truck has a constant screwed up idle and no one seems to be able to find out why. So therefore my biojunk as I like to call it are done. Is it worth it. In my opinion no. its inconvient and destroys our trucks. Honestly tell me how much you are gonna save? Stop being cheap and go to the pump. Just kidding but I thought I would join in and give my 2 cents.

If someone is making it out of their garage, they need to test it to make sure that it is up to the same standards that the commercial biodiesel manufacturers are conforming to. If someone makes their own and they sell it to someone else without proper testing, I would have to say that they are very irresponsible. That is just my opinion though. Josh

While i haven't gotten to the point of manufacturing my own yet I have started using B85 along with Power Service. I started with a fresh fuel filter and will see how things go. Gonna try 500 gallons and see if theres any difference.

If they were cleaning fat out of fuel lines, pumps or the tank the guy was not even doing a half @** job of making biodiesel. If there is anything left in bio large enough to accumulate then I would venture to say they didn't even process it, they just filtered it several times and let that be that. Sorry to hear about the bad experience.
