Adding 2 stroke oil?
I just read an article in Diesel Power Mag. that showed a 1 mpg increase when adding ashless tcw-3 oil at a concentration of 200:1. I am looking at giving this a whorl, but I wanted to see if this will not work for cold climates. It is starting to get down into the 20's at night here, and will be getting colder soon. Is this a warm weather mod only, or does this work in any weather?

I would think that it woudnt effect the fuel due to weather atleast here the gas stations start getting treated fuel at the end of october for cooler weather(N.Y up state) but maybe someone knows more ?

The two stroke oil actually has a lower pour point than diesel fuel, so you're fine.

Are you guys running any? At 200:1, and 10 bucks per gallon, I think it is worth the 1 mile per gallon huh? Especially when I am heading on a long trip coming up. I think I will buy a couple gallons and try in out. Sounds like better milage and quieter, smoother motor operation. Anyone care to add?

Let us know if it actually gets you a fuel mileage increase. Been running two stroke in mine for over a year, and there is no difference in fuel mileage with or without.

But you still run it... does it make the motor run smoother? If I don't get the milage, I probably would discontinue use..

People don't run it for the mileage, in fact, some users report a loss of fuel economy. It is used for lubricity.

True. Even though I am friends with a chemist at an oil company that says that sulfer doesn't add lubricity (despite what we say online). Not sure how true that is. Everyone says that sulfer was a lubricant, but it COULD be just an internet myth. Message boards DO have a tendency to perpetuate such things to the point that they take on their own life. Not saying that's the case here. Just that I've seen no more valid source than him.

Do a search, there are countless threads on this. What Anti-Gel does everyone use? Read Mopar1973man's 2nd post on page 30 of this thread. Used engine oil.

Yeah, threads. I'm very well aware of them. But any valid info other than one internet persona making unsubstantiated claims? Just because it's commonly parroted info doesn't mean it is - or isn't - correct.

Running 16 oz per full tank has improved my MPG by .5-1.0 MPG. It also runs smoother. I figure it can only help.
