Opti-Lube XPD vs Opti-Lube Fuel Improver
On the opti-lube website there are three different types of fuel addictives: Opti-Lube XPD, Opti-Lube Winter Fuel Improver, and Opti-Lube Summer Fuel Improver. From the description on the website I cannot tell the differences between the Opti-Lube XPD and the Opti-Lube Fuel Improver. Does anyone know if there is a difference or an advantage to one of these addictives over the other? Also can teh XPD be used both summer and winter as there is no winter blend? Thanks I'm fairly new to the diesel world.

If you look the suggested amount on XPD is higher...I believe. I run the Summer blend and have zero complaints (6oz to tank)...Depending on your location you may need two versions...since I live in Florida I don't worry about it

How does the truck run with 6oz of the summer blend. I figure one to two ounces would be plenty. MikeyB

November Diesel Power did some tests with XPD in a '97 7.3. They had great results with it. I just started running howes- I have noticed that my engine is running noticeably smoother all across the rpm range. After I get a good feel for Howes, I would like to try XPD.

I read the article in the november issue of diesel power which turned me onto XPD. I currently run two stroke oil in with my fuel and have noticed a slight inprovement. This is why i was wondering if anyone had used both forms of optilube and if one was better then the other.

I run Opt-Lube XPD. I know the oil companies say they put additives in their ULSD but my experience is the Opti-Lube quietens the motor considerably. I believe over the long haul the right additives pay for themselves. This article may prove useful in making a decision on which additive to use; http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fu...itive_test.pdf

This is my first week of using the Opti-Lube summer blend. The engine is much smoother and quieter. With the Power Service Diesel Kleen the engine had more vibrations at idle. 2oz of summer blend mixed with 8oz TCW3. MikeyB
