Okay, this fuel economy is RIDICULOUS

Seriously, it all started with a valve adjustment at renfrew chrysler.. then my mileage went down to 13-14 mpg in town... then they said I needed injectors, then GCL replaced #2 and #5 not once, but twice, and still no gain in mileage. Got an AFE 4" turbo back put on at unlimited, and still no gain. Bully dog, still no gain. Today I put on an AFE stage 2 intake, and i'm waiting to see what happens... does anybody know what the hell could be wrong here? I keep meeting people getting 25+ mpg with an '04, and I don't know what to look for anymore...

I don't know what the auto is suppose to get, but it depends on how you drive and your gearing. You could also add a good additive to lubircate your fuel pumps and clean the injectors. My truck gets 23 mpg at 115 km/hr but she has about 1000 lbs extra with the quad deck and bumpers.

are you guys 2wd or 4wd...hard to believe 23-25mpg in a 4x4 and with large tires??

these people who "claim" these huge mpg numbers are either relying on the over head "lie-o-meter" or don't know math!

if your running a stock 2wd with stock size tires and keepin yer speed at 60-65mph on the hiway, ya might see the 20-25mpg running empty (no load)

what gearing do you have?
auto or manual tranny?
hows the driving habits? jackrabbit starts and on the brakes hard to stop?
last time you changed out fuel filter?
the clown at renfrew suggested injectors, GCL changed 2 out... some clown eh?
GCL morons changed em out twice? did they say what was wrong with them?
what kind of mileage are you gettin on the hiway?
stop and go traffic is killer on any vehicle for mileage!!
do you load it up/haul heavy loads at all?
that bully dog thing is more then likely killing your injectors... allowing too much fuel?
are your tires aired up to maximum cold pressure?
hows the front end alignment?

Its a truck, what do expect it to get for mpg? Maybe you ought to get rid of it and buy a bicycle or walk or god forbid buy a honda!!

I saw a drop in mpg when I added leveling kit (raised front end now have more undercarriage exposed=more drag)... also saw a drop when I added bumpers(oem bumpers added to aerodynamics) saw yet another drop in mileage when I installed 35" tires...

it's a 4wd, I use stanadyne if i get fuel from gas plus or esso, if i go to husky or shell i never use additive. the alignment is pretty good, though i may need to look into it, as i've heard this before. i keep the bully dog in tow/economy, barely blows any smoke in that setting. my trailer weighs 4000lbs empty, and yes I do a lot of city stop and go, i run either amsoil or mobil 1, and i change my fuel filter every 2 oil changes (15000kms), with genuine mopar filters. gcl never told me what was wrong with my injectors, but i saw the scanner myself, and the bad ones were at 79 and 83%. the other 4 were like, 101, 103, 98, 99 or something like that. my tire size setting on the bullydog is bang on, i run 265/70/17's toyo m-55's... the lie-o-meter may be just that, but i'm still barely getting 600 km/tank in town. today i was at 14mpg... before my valve adjustment, when it was still bone stock, the lie-o-meter said 15-17 mpg in town, with the trailer... I think it's got 3:73's, automatic. thanks guys! and btw i can't pull the trailer with a honda, although i keep seeing this guy at the dump with a 70's parisienne pulling a trailer... maybe i'll give it a shot!

seems like your fuel economy is spot on if you are towing in the city. Don't even ask what a gas powered truck would get. My fuel economy is hand calculated - but the overhead display always reads less on my truck. It said 21 mpg but it was actually 23.5. Keep in mind that was driving to Mannyberries and back. Going to 35's lowered my rpm by about 200 on the highway, keeping the engine closer to its sweet spot @ 2000 rpm on the highway (the G56 with 3.73 is equal to the NV5600 with 4.10s) in top gear.

Are you calculating Canadian gallons (4.54ltrs) or Anmerican gallons (3.98ltrs), the lie o meter is in american unless you use the metric side.

why are you complaining about 15mpg with a 4,000# trailer attached to your hind end?

12.0 L/100km, so I guess can gallons. Just have a "easy fuel mileage calc" slide in the truck. Would be = 20.5 with imp gal. My brothers chev 3/4 crew (6L) gets 14 empty, and my buddys 07 Tundra (5.7?) gets 13 empty, so still pretty sweet.

indeed, my trailer tires may be an issue... they are E rated, and back when I was getting 15-16 mpg, I had G rated tires on there, which I could run at 100 psi... makes perfect sense since 5 psi underinflated makes a difference on most vehicles, pulling a load 20psi light, well, ya i'll look into that...
