Exclamation Alaska Drag Racing, Saturday, July 22nd

Our second "Truck Performance Night" at the Alaska Raceway Park drag strip in Palmer is this Saturday, July 22nd. There is only one more after this one folks, which will be during mid August, and it always gets rained out. The race is sponsored by Northern Diesel Performance and they usually give away free stuff to those that attend. The gates open at 2:00pm, T&T/Dial-In/Grudge Races starts at 3:00pm till about 6:00pm, and the bracket racing for TROPHIES and BRAGGING RIGHTS start about 6:30pm. There are usually a bunch of Hemi trucks, Lightenings and Chevy SS's out there, so if you have any friends with one of those and thinks their fast, definatley bring them along. Just bring your 4-wheeler or snowmachine helmet and a pair of long pants/shirt to slip on when you run.

If anyone wants to go, but has never been out to the track before and not sure how to get there, I'd love to meet you guys/gals in the Fred Meyer parking lot in Eagle River, or wherever, and convoy out to the track together. If your in Anchorage (I am), we can do the same here in town somewhere and just make a pit stop in ER to pick those folks up. A convoy of about 50 smoke'n diesels going up the Glen would be sweet. Looks like the weather is going to be perfect for us. Should be an awesome day at the track (for a change).

Brian

It is in Palmer, on the Old Glenn Highway, about 45 minutes north of Anchorage. That would be a heck of a drive for you.

Hey Brian- We met once a while back and a few of us went to Applebee's. Just got back from a pretty long deployment. I haven't been up to the drags yet, but we're going to go tommorow. We'll root you on!

Not dialed in yet. I just haven't had time. However, I should have about three hours to play tomorrow get everything where it should be and see what she will do.

Hi Steve. I remember you vaguely. It's been a couple years. I went on a long hiatus in Kuwait myself and as soon as I got back I took a one-year job up at Clear by Fairbanks. I stay up there during the week now and commute home to Anchorage on the weekends. Are you gonna run? It is bracket racing against the clock so you don't have to be fast. In fact, the stock trucks usually do better as they are much more consistent. We don't have much of a spectator base on truck day so the stands will probably be empty. Might as well pay a few extra bucks and park in the pits with us. Bring lawn chairs if you do. I was a little disappointed at the weather when I got in to town tonight. Hopefully the rain holds off. Most people won't make the drive if it looks like rain and attendance is poor. There is a Chevy Duramax on Elmendorf with stacked chips and nitrous that I finally talked in to coming out. I talked enough smack on the Chevy forum that he finally caved in. Grudge match? I'm meeting him at the Boniface gate at 1:30 and he's gonna follow me out there. Look forward to seeing you again.

Just for ya'll's curiousity- Brian (AKRAM) put on one heck of a show last nite. I think his best run of the night was a 12.67 sec quarter. Amazing! He was definately the crowd favorite! We had a great time last nite. Next trip up I'll have to run mine..., somehow I think I my rig's not in the same class as AKRAM's rig

Thanks for the kind words. It was fun!!!! Wish we had a little better participation though. Last year it wasn't uncommon to have 30 trucks out there. Unfortunately, no new land speed records were set . I was running faster/better last month and was looking forward to some low 12's with my racing tires on, but just couldn't get the truck to run as well this time. There is always next time. For you technical buffs, the 12.67 was with the TST on 3/3, BDDL on Performance (90hp), Edge EZ on 3, 52 lbs of boost, and 1375*F EGTs.

Sorry I could not be there, I had to work. How did Jim and the white Ford do?? I talked to him at the Bearpaw festival last weekend and he said they where going to reschedule the first (rained out) race for the last racing weekend (first week in Sept). I should be able to make the Aug Race and maybe the sept one if it happens.
Congrats on the good run.

Jim still had a few gremlins plaguing his truck. I wasn't paying attention very well, but I didn't see him break mid-15 seconds all night.
