atf as fuel additive?

can anybody tell me if ATF is good to use a fuel additive for the lubrication of the fuel pump? since the new low sulfer fuel is causing havoc on older fuel pumps. one gallon of additive at wally's world is 14$. atf is a whole lot cheaper. im driving a 2004.5 with auto tranny

bad fuel additive atf fluid is NOT designed to be burned. very bad on the cr injectors buy some good FUEl additive and you will be set or try some 2 stroke oil for snowmobiles so it will not thicken as easily

thats kind of what i figured. a good diesel mech said that is ok to use, about i qt to 35 gallons of fuel. also living in alaska its always cold so the atf could gell up in the injectors.

ATF actually has molybdenum in it, You are getting Arctic grade fuel, the injection system in you truck is fine without any additive the best is B2, most aditives make it worse than plain fuel. There is a survey about it, I believe it was posted on this site. Save you money. PLAY SAFE!

Stanadyne is a good produc too. Cheapest place to buy is at Kennworth of Alaska in Anchorage. $4.78 for 60 gal treatment.

I use the winter fuel conditioner from these folks. Oil Additives, Lubricants, and Fuel Additives - SFR Corporation
Works very well.

I run Power Service's Diesel Kleen, makes everything run quiet and pays for its self with the added mpg. Super tech 2 cycle oil from wallys is a cheap way to go for extra lube. mix 1oz to 1 gal.

I dont think 2 stroke in a small quantity is going to hurt anything alot of guys have been using It around here for a long time. It actually is designed to be burned.
I would caution anyone with a late model truck (mine has a Cat!) any later models have Cats and Particulate Traps imagine shelling out 5 grand for a new exhaust system.
Oh yeah i can cut off my Cat (no feedback),the later models are gonna have trouble.

I would not put ATF if your fuel. Like everyone has said it is not designed to burn and can cause much more problems than good. 2 cycle TC-W3 is designed to burn and works great as a lube..go with something like that along with a nice additive like AMSOIL diesel concentrate, Power Service....or something proven to work.

That's funny, I brought my truck to the dealership with a sticky injector a few weeks ago, the diesel tech there took my fuel filter out, filled the bowl with ATF+4, turn the motor over and then off right away and let the ATF sit in the injectors for about 15 minutes,..he then put the rest of the one qt. bottle into my fuel and told me to add a qt. every fill up...

The sticky injector is gone, my fuel pressure is up 2-3psi...
