help, noise is driving me crazy

I'm getting a real weird noise when I accelerate. It starts when I get to the top of 2nd, thru 3rd and 4th, it is not the sound of the turbo spooling, but it does have a whining sound, not real high pitched. It is coming from the engine compartment. I have tried taking it out of gear during the occurrence, and the noise goes away, put it back in gear and it comes back when I accelerate. When parked, and just rev the engine, no noise. It has a new Serp. Belt, new U-joints, and a fresh diffi fluid change w/ synthetics. water temp, oil press. Voltmeter, all normal, no idiot lights on, any Ideas guys? For those of you that don’t like to read profiles. I have a 96 Ram 5.9 ltr TBD, BHAF, heat shield, Aero Turbine muffler, stock from there.

U-Joints, carrier bearing, rear diffi, are all new (less than a year) drive lines have both been balanced. like I stated before, the noise is coming from the engine compartment. Trans has been checked out recently by local tranny shop. (reputable) does anyone live in Anchorage, or preferably Wasilla that would be willing to take a test drive?

It's transmission related though. 2nd 3rd and 4th.... It's not engine related or you could get it to happen at a stand still.

I don't have my tranny book infront of me right now, so I can't see what is in common between 2-4.

I'd give Dave Goerend a call. Goerend Transmission Incorporated

Are you sure? I just had it in the shop for a tranny service, and I had them check it over, just a couple of months ago, everything looked great.

There is about 95% of the tranny that you can't see with just the pan off.

If there is a bearing failure, the only clue would be a small ammount of metal shavings till the big failure happened.

Was the noise going on a couple months ago when you had it looked at?
