Thanks! To many AL residents

I attended the Aero-Warrior Re-union @ Talladega last weekend, had a great time & met many super nice people.
On Sunday morning on the way to the track, the second of our two trailers tossed it's right front wheel & hub.......ARGH! I was several miles ahead of him (my son) & was at 399 & Racetrack Rd. had to turn & burn back to the south end of Talladega (City). We unloaded the Superbird & limped the trailer to the Piggly-Wiggly, the manager gave us permission to leave the trailer in a corner of the lot. Then the Cops came.........Asked if we'd left a car in an empty lot two blocks away........Yeah it was us, we said leaving to quickly retrieve it. All they was "It's causing a bi of a commotion, gawking/picture taking/etc........We know this is your trailer so we'll keep an eye on it..........The route to the track is clear.......get that car out of town, stand on it & git to the speedway! 'Nuf said, we got to the track with just enough time to make the parade lineup. Ya'll have a guy in Huntsville named Tommy Turner, Tommy runs an expidite truck for NAPCO gettin parts to parts stores. If ya talk to him give him a big thumbs up. With out him I'd still be in Alabama. Tommy picked up an axle for the trailer (I'd paid for it by credit card)@ P&T Trailers in Huntsville & brought it down so I could repair the trailer. NO charge, just a handshake, & glad he could help. My brother is a member of several web sites & of the 4 he posted on, Tommy was the only one whom answered; The Supercar Registry Bulletin Board: Viewing list of forums from any site. Lon didn't have my login info to post on this site, but like I said if Ya'll know Tommy - What a GREAT GUY!

I should add that after all the trailer trouble, many hearing of our problems, we got cheaper motel rates, to others offering tools, physical help, etc. Even the fellow two days prior found me high octane, leaded, racing fuel for the High-Horsepower 'Bird, just so many friendly folks. Thanks to all. - Al

Did you say you left a Superbird in a parking lot in downtown Talladega? Unattended? You sir are the bravest man I have ever met. I wouldn't leave that car unattended my shop. I'm glad the folks were there to extend a friendly, helping hand. I hope your next trip here has a better outcome. I'm only 20 min from Talladega, so next time your down I'd love to see your bird. You could even park it at my place, and not have to worry about it. Jake my mule, wouldn't let nothing near it. Plus having a Superbird there would turn the place into hallow ground.

I wouldn't let that out of my sight even if I had to sleep in it and bathe in a creek. My dad had a 68 he bought new when he came home from Nam. He took the keys with him on his next tour just to have them with him. You have a beautiful car that's for sure. I'm glad bad luck didn't taint trip. Hopefully next time will be better and I can get by to see your car.

Ya'll come back now ya hear!
Tommy
