As Fate Would Have It......

Dr.
I'm glad you mention school bus. I just happen to live accross from a bus barn! Since they play with and have a lot of Cummins over there, I thought I would go over and meet them. Now I have a reason to !!

What is the CPL number? If you can't get it I will try to get one from my 'neighbor'...... We will see. (Suppose the one off my new Cummins wouldn't work......hehe).

Is there any more info that might help with this quest.........?

You are right about my lp. Since '05 they have put them in the tank. If you go in for warranty work and have it mounted on the engine, they will install the new one in the tank as well........
As long as this one would maintain enough flow / pressure I would use it ($65 is a doable price!). After reading this post, it looks like it would have a decent enough life expectancy. Of course, if I did it like I stated above; I would always be carrying a ready spare!
Dan

Hey Dan,

The CPL number is like the engine ID number for Cummins (I cant remember what it stands for at the moment)...anyway, some Cummins places would want it and some dont even ask for it. I have no idea what it would be on the buses.

I think this pump would probably work for you as a pusher. I think some of the third gen guys are installing and auxiliary pickup and using a pusher. I would think there would be some info in the third gen forums on this...I havent been there for a bit so I dont know for sure.

Anyway, I think this is a good kit you could use with this pump:

I know its not for an 06....but its something to look into.

The added pusher pump enhances and assists operation of the stock LP, and is especially beneficial when power mods to the Cummins are added, and require a more abundant and reliable fuel flow.

Another thread will describe that mod...

"Went to International dealer today and bought lift pump for $70.00. Asked for Cummins part #4090046, that's the lift pump they use on firetrucks and ambulances with 5.9's. Some Cummins dealers will let you buy direct from them, some won't. Best to find an I.H. dealer or Freighrliner shop and have them order for you. Here's the part number: 4090046 and here's the info. you should give them to qualify: engine number 56561524. This is a 1999 manufacture date 250 Encore ISB 5.9 Cummins engine, which allegedly qualifies ... good luck! Like I said, try a Freightliner or IH shop. Mine said they will order any part # we ask for. They told me Cummins wont question it from them."

Sorry I have been gone for so long. I got the above info from the site I normally hang out on. If you can do this, great. I will check to see if I can get it here locally. If you can't get it where you are; I will see about getting some here and I will gladly ship you one (As long as you pay for it.... Of course!)

Dan (email me: [millco at excite] if I take to long to get back to you)

Will this pump work for a 2001 ? Then get the relocation kit? New to diesels and this 2001 Cummins is my first one, bought used, about 86000 miles and am worried about the pump from what I have read. Any more info for a "newbie" would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, keep the info cummin (LOL)

Just picked up my 1st CTD, last nite. 98.5 Sport,4X4 with 3.55's and 88K .

This campaign pump (4090046) you guy's are talking about, is it a revised electric lift pump that mount's in the stock location? Or is it a pusher that goes in tank to assist the stock LP?

What's the concensus, on the rollover valve-that others have stated caused the restriction/FP failures. Anyone have a fix for this?

I need to get FP gauge installed-soon. Y'all got me shakin with all the talk of LP failures.

Congrads on the truck!

It only a revised pump the suppose to go in stock location but some of us have moved it back toward the tank to help it live longer... Only one pump in the system.

Rollover valve is far as I know everyone is replacing it... There might be a few making something...

A set of gauges (Fuel Pressure, Boost, Pyro) is a MUST!!! The first BOMB you'll do to your truck...

Replacing it with, stock valves?

Or has someone come up with a new style valve that won't jam?
