i figured they offered the whole hub assembly for people with out a press.
it'll be alright promise!

your answer is justified an makes complete sense.
but trust me when i say by the book isn't always the right way.
just trust me on this. i know it sounds like b.s.
and i don't blame you if you think i'm wrong by doing it this way.

i learned from some old school mech's and it'll be alright i promise!

Your telling me that bearings that were bad enough to need replacing didn't damage the race...yeah right.

you don't trust me.

no i needed a drivers side axle seal.
i'm putting new bearing, brakes, seals and ball joints in because i'm already there.

nevah mind!
i called all the auto parts stores wint in 30 minutes drive
no one offers just the bearings.

so i'm going with advance auto parts $124ea for complete hub assembly

Does anybody have any tips on removing the bearing/hub assembly on a 03 3500 2wd and is the unit a dealer only part???? TIA

HELP........I am replacing this very part.......I have a 2004.5 2 wheel drive 2500 quad cab....I need the front wheel hub assembly and cannot find it anywhere besides the dealer....for 360.72. It looks like someone found one in here for $124....let me know where and if it is for the same truck or is there a friend of the forum that sells OEM parts cheaper????

The mfg. of this part is SKF industries. The part # is BR 930502. The best price I've fornd is $200.25 through my a friends acc. at a local parts store. Sorry I couldn't help more but maybe if you googled it you might turn up something. Keep us posted as to what you find.

I just ran across this on another site. E.B. Atmus: bearings, power transmission and motion control products. They have that bearing priced at $214.27. Hope this helps.

not to argue with anyone here, but the whole sockett thing doesn't always work...case in point my drivers side went out at 140k, tried the whole sockett thing with everyother trick i could think of...now this truck started off up in PA, (people and there salt) so it was rusted off in there. i ended up cutting the upper and lower balljoint (needed to be replaced anyways) to get the steering knucle and hub out.

i took the assembly to my shop and used a 50tn press to get the dag-on thing out of there.

to prove how much better the south is than the north i did my best friend's 99' (both sides) in a day (drinks involved) and what do you know, no rust=sockett trick works like a champ. gotta love rust!! and i used so much PB Blaster i should have gotten a barrel of the stuff.

hope everyone who has to change one out has a easier time then i did.

yep. salt stinks. My dad had a very cool '79 Plymouth prospector extended body passenger van, with the 360 gasser, limited slip rear. If it weren't for the Wisconsin winter salt, I bet that thing would still be running around. The motor was super strong at 150k miles, but the boddy had been rebuilt 3 times from the beltline down! He sold it when the frame started flaking apart by the rear spring perches.

I hope my 2001 comes apart nicely this spring when I start tightening up my steering!
