I have installed alot of Fass pumps and yes they can be noisey.........on the 3rd gen trucks you can really hear the pump, I always ruber mount them on the 3rd genners so to dampen the noise

A lot of guys are using an old mud flap to isolate the HPFP bracket off the bed. This, i have heard, makes a huge difference. As for the pump its self, we talked to our motor guy. He said that the brushes in the motor take about 40-60 hrs of run time to "ware in" to the motor armature. Its basically a flat brush wearing to a curved surface. The resistance is high at first, but then as the brushes ware in, the resistance drops and the motor should be less noisy. BUT our pumps will make some noise. .

Guys.....wanted to post this here on this thread. We have updated a few things on our pumps to better flow the fuel...and in the process, this reduced the whine of the pump by 5-10 DB!!!

We are going to offer a free update for anyone that has a noisy FASS/HPFP. All that needs to be done is send in your pump to us. Please contact your selling dealer so they can get an RMA for the return first. Then we will update the pump with the new plate and ship it back to the address listed on the box that it came in.

We ask that this be preformed here in house so we can bench test the pump and make sure its 100%. Also we do not want anyone cutting the seal on the newer pumps to service them. This will void any wnty on the pump.

If you can put up with your stock pump, or truck down for a few days, we will make sure your pump is quieter when you get it back.

Just announced today....here is an excerpt of Brads letter that has been hacked some what to take out the dealer specific parts....

Quote:
We have been very successful with our research and development. We have designed a new way of lowering pump noise, up to 11decibels!! Our fuel pumps are now consistently much quieter, for example: while I sit in my 2006 Dodge Cummins, with the windows down and the engine not running, I no longer hear my FASS Fuel System operating.........We are so confident in the changes we have made. We have decided, for the pick up truck models, we are making available a 6 year warranty in place of their 4 year warranty..........

.........we request that you obtain a RMA number (from a FASS dealer), send us the pump. We will immediately make the necessary changes and return to customer. Because of the inconvenience and our desire to please you......we have decided to back date this warranty program.........This free program is as follows:

FASS 95 Models - All

FASS 150 Models - serial #’s back to 5,000

HPFP Models - serial #’s back to 1,000

I would be lying to you if i said our pumps were totaly silent. BUT in the same breath they can make some noise and not be heard as well. Most of our pumps are just fine in regards to noise and can be covered up by the engine running...even the 3rd gens. BUT we have had a few out there that were somewhat noisy. This is why we are going to offer this fix.
