VP44 dead or air leak or APPS question

My 99 has a new lift pump, new injectors, new clutch and running a 65 hp ez chip .. with 300,000 miles have been expecting the injection pump to go ... today it hiccuped, or dead pedaled or whatever, but lost power or surged for about a quarter mile while accelerating normal ... then has been running fine ... any ideas, I've gone through so many threads I'm not sure what it is ... No code was thrown but check engine has been on for a couple years

friend that read codes today said it was something related to the drivetrain, speedometer hasn't been working correctly for at least 3 years ... once you reach a certain speed it will work ... I'm baffled, I really thot the injection pump was going out when it did its thing today ... but I just made two trips hauling some cows to the auction and it ran fine. Not sure what the power failure or dead pedal thing was today ... any ideas anyone

you might be right ... but it is a strong runner ... have been expecting the injection pump to go out long before this ... have almost replaced it just to save it happening on the side of the road ... I plan on keeping it ... it just runs too good for the money it would cost to replace it ...

Do you still have the error code numbers? We might be able to fix these problems but we are going to need more information about the error codes...

Have you tried replacing the sensor on the top of the axle?

I'm talking about the VSS sensor. Only way I could see the tone ring getting damaged is if you damage something in the rear end.

Had the codes checked ... 1693 was thrown. Unhooked the EZ chip, it's been on for about 200,000 miles ... surge and dead pedal has stopped so far ... thinking about getting the edge juice w/attitude ... original injection pump is still probably soon to fail, but seems to be fine now. Any thots ?
