From my past experience the spped issue is the sensor on the top of the rear diff housing going bad. I think they are about $60 and are a dealer item only. They also affect the way the trans shifts which may be giving you the power failure/dead pedal thing. I was having a no/hard start issue when it was cold outside a few years back when I had a Superchips programmer installed. I took the programmer off and the truck would fire right up. I blamed the programmer and got my money back from Superchips, not too much hassle. I ended up installing my Edge Comp box and the VP lasted about 32hrs before it grenaded. My opinion, the dead pedal is a sign the VP is on it's last leg. I'd try the sensor first it's cheaper and if it's not it at least you got the speedo issue fixed.

Lake Huron ... thanks ... will try the speedo sensor ... would be nice to have it working ... you might be right on the VP being next ... but its due ... EZ must have been part of the problem ... only have about 40 miles since unhooking it ... and no more dead pedal problems, but fully aware that I'm overdue for a new injection pump

P1693 Error code means that there is more codes present in either PCM and/or ECM controllers... So re-scan for eror codes and find the other code(s)...
