I swapped a nv4500 out of a 1997 12 valve over the weekend. everything went fine and didnt have much trouble until it was time to put the starter on. There is a gap at the top of the starter about 1/4 to 1/2in across.
I am curious if the adapter plates were different on the automatic to manual transmissions. The tranny bolted right up so I figured it would be the same, Everything else fit perfect until then. Is there a starter spacer i am missing that I need for the manual?
To those wondering, I figured it out last night. Being new to dual disc clutches got me. I didnt realize I had to have a tarter spacer. i installed the spacer and a new starter and it fired right up with no starter drag.
i can honestly say this swap was easier than anything I ever did on my jeeps. It took me about 20 hours to finish it where everything is good. i still have something associated with the swap to fo but they are very minor. Anyone looking to do this should be able to successfully pull this off with little issue.
I got all the lines out but there is a wire hanging down, havent had time to trace it down yet but I guess its the kickdown or something. What did you do with yours?
All my wires I bundled up and zip tied underneath the hood as they run into the main harness.

You can always just ground the NSS if your not worried about it. I never wired mine up. I have a push button start on mine though so it starts no matter what.
