Old Fashion Moth Balls in Diesel Fuel

I know that a sucker is born every minute. Ran into a old gent today while filling up. He was driving a F350 and told me he had been putting 1 Old Fashion Moth Ball per 3 gal of fuel since he had 8k miles on his truck. The truck now has 110k miles on it with no problems. Claimed he increased his mpg by 2-3 mpg's. I did some research online and found more negative than positive comments. I did find a formula of 1 ball per 4 gals. Is anyone doing this with a Dodge Diesel ???

Somewhere I recall some talk about doing this. It escapes me now, however.

I beleive it was a cheap gasoline octane enhancer.

Yea! that's it. Got no ideal if worked on gas and definitelly no ideal what it do to diesel. He may have a tank filled half way with partially disolved white balls.

Something tells me not to do this. I don't know what, though. . .

I think you should experiment and let us know how it goes. Perhaps start with 1 mothball & increase to say...10 or so. Be sure to log & hand calculate mileage. We'd also need to know the brand and composition of the moth balls.

Perhaps buy a mothball factory or come out with your own brand. The slogan could be "My moth balls keep my Cummins cummin." or "Mothballs in my Cummins gits mah motor hummin."

I've heard of old time racers putting moth balls in the tank in their gassers to get a little extra boost. Old moth balls though. None of the stuff they sell these days though. Never heard of anybody doing it with a diesel though.
