poor fuel mileage 2001 6 speed

got a buddy getting bad fuel mileage. (12-14mpg) only thing he has done is a edge chip which stays turned off. and 150hp ddp injectors and a bhaf and stock straight pipe. he has a 5 inch lift and 35 inch tires. i told him to get rv275s if he sticks with stock turbo and get 4 inch turbo back if he wants better mpg.

For best fuel mileage, I drive 62mph or the speed limit, whichever is less.

The 200's I ran only hurt the fuel mileage a coupla mpg but I popped'em 4400 to 4500psi.
The 100's gave about the same mileage as the 50's I'm running now.
The 100's are about 2 mpg better than stock.

Thanks blazier, this is my truck he is talking about, i will go a little more in detail about it, Its got a raptor lift pump, 150 ddp injectors, bhaf, stock straight pipe, stock turbo and edge ez. Im running 35 inch tires. I kept the ez turned off because no matter on what setting its on it gets worse fuel mileage like 12. I dont drive it like crazy or anything. I have been thinking about getting the rv275s like he is talking about or getting an quad adrenaline or edge juice with atitude. What do you all think would get me better mpg besides smaller tires? thanks

1. Slow down don't drive fater than 60-65 MPH period!

2. Turn on the Edge and run it on 5x5 (Max Setting!)

3. Ditch the 150 HP injectors and go back to RV275 Injectors.

4. Take the lift off the truck. More wind drag with higher profile huge decrease of MPG's!

5. Ditch the 35 inch tires for every 4 pounds of tire weight you lose you gain 1 HP.

Now... As for my setup... I'm running a Edge Comp on 5x5 (never turned down). I never drive any faster that about 60 MPH at anytime. I'm running 235/85 R16 tires which happen to be nearly 100 pounds lighter than stock 265/75 R16 tires and rims. I'm stock height no lift If I could I would reduce my height more but I need the ground clearance for firwood cutting.

As for pulling my 2000 Jayco that in my signature... My truck and trailer on the scales at 16,080# with water, food, etc. Best yet I got 14.13 MPG hand calcualted on a trip to Lowman, ID climb up 7% grades and windy roads...

Follow my suggestions and you'll see 21-22 MPG without thinking...

I always love how people modify there truck with out relizing the out come of the mods till its too late and now whine about poor MPG's and how much they just spent on lift kits and tires...

Not tryng to be a ar$e but this is way too common...
