Oil in diesel fuel?

My family normally pours some clean engine oil in the diesel in some of our tractors. I asked my grandpa and he told me it lubricated injectors and some other things. I'm just curious, do you guys think that putting oil in your fuel is beneficial to the engine or is that just hear-say? Compared to other fuel additives like diesel kleen?

there is about 42,541 threads on this topic. the responses you get on it are similar to asking 100 people what the best car is!
In short it wont hurt anything, but realistically probably isnt necessary!

This is the result of runing engine oil or ATF in your fuel. The ash content of the oils will come out on the tips of the injectors and crowns of the pistons. Oils of today are nothing like the oils of 1970's when you grandfather was doing it.

This is why the ASHLESS 2 cycle oil concept was born.

Since 2 cycle oil is compeletely ashles you don't get the deposits on the pistons and injectors like engine oil or ATF. As you can see the second pic is a injector after 80K miles of 2 cycle oil.
