Exclamation Throttle not working properly

I have a 02 2500 Dodge Ram 4wd with the H.O. Cummins, and the throttle seems to work correctly part of the time and others will not let me accelerate, and just tonite when I first fired it up after work it idled very irradically going from approx 875 to 1100, but no check engine lite......... HELP

First thoughts are APPS. Look here for info: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...highlight=APPS Have you checked for codes? Try turning the key on/off,on/off, on (without starting it) and see if any codes come up in the odo window. Let us know.

yes, very likely APPS or possibly the VP-44....

Can that Work???

Can it work??? the contact cleaner, and the on board testing? I haven't had a Dodge that would do the onboard since 93, no check engine lite lit yet anyway...... I suppose that apps is dealer only also, 02 Dodge Ram 2500 4wd w/6 spd Standard 24valve H.O.

key on/off doesnt give you anything?

You might want to get it scanned.

I would first try to reset the APPS

Turn key on but dont start.

slowly push accelerator pedel to floor ........10 seconds maybe

at the same rate slowly release pedel

turn key off.

start engine and the APPS is re set


I have done this when the APPS didnt work at all and it re-set just fine, this proceedure will calibrate the APPS
