fuel drain valve leaks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had my old fuel drain start leaking. Bought new one from dealership and it leaks also. Have about 18psi at idle. Has anyone had this problem. Can we just block off the fuel drain with a plate? Any drawbacks for this as i have never used the fuel drain in over 250,000 miles. Could the fuel pressure be too much for the stock drain?
Thanks
Brad

i ran 28psi with no leaks.. i'd make sure you didnt lose an O ring or something if it's leaking where it mates to the filter canister, otherwise you might find a good used one(i have one sitting around..), i haven't heard of anyone using a block off plate but i have heard of them leaking after 150k+ miles unused then finally being opened

Thanks all

Thank you everyone for your response. In looking at the new part i got from the dealership, i think it was used at one time. there is diesel oil in the bag with the new part and it was missing one of the o rings. i am taking it back to this lousy dealership and getting my money back and then buying another from somewhere else.
thanks again.
