diffence in 241dld and 241dhd transfer case

My 02 is a six speed 4x4. Shouldnt it have a heavy duty case. Says nv241dld though. Thanks

Hey,

That's the light duty transfer case. Don't worry mine and many others have that same transfer case. They are pretty strong and can handle some abuse!!

The only difference that I know of is the dld chain is not as wide.

Yeah and I think the heavy duty has a larger shaft and bearings as well. Plus the larger chain.

Thanks guys. Reason i am asking is i went to get a seal for the front shaft and they told me it only showed the dhd case. Hopefully it is the same. My front shaft is leaking and it moves up and down.

I take it, it is loose at the yoke not a u-joint. I would say a bearing is getting bad inside. Have you checked the ATF in the transfer case??
