I would like to propose a toast to Thomas!!

Well, last week I took my truck '02 3500 to the dealer for a failed VP44. I assumed that I was still under warranty with only 86K on the truck. Well, they came back and said that I was a month out of my warranty (Ya know 5 yrs since delivery). The sales manager contact the district manager and he said that the would cover half of the cost's. So, I agreed to that because as you all know half price is better than full price. After I got off the phone with them on giving them the ok to start work on it. I started doing some reading on some of the forums and a came across the thread that contains Thomas' adventure in the repair of his truck. So, I made copies of all of the stuff he used to fight his case. Yesterday, when my truck was ready I went up there with both barrells loaded. I asked them to read my warranty and give me their interpretation of what is written. They looked kinda puzzled the first time that they read it. Then they read it again and said let me go back and look in the computer. At that time, I figured here we go " the computer say's" Well, that didn't happened. They looked up at me a said " I am sorry your truck is still under warranty". But, you will have to pay the 100 dollar deductable. Sounds good to me! So, I paid them and got my truck. I just wanted to personally, thank Thomas for his research and his posting of his info on the warranty. It saved me a ton of money. So, Thomas if you are ever in N. Alabama look me up cause Dinner and Drinks are on me. Thanks!!

Good to see a warranty story turn out good once in awhile!

A stand up dealer I would say.

Thumbs up

That's Fantastic,

Congrats on the deal of a lifetime and it's nice to hear there's still honest dealers out there. I was amazed half way thru your post when they "offered" to split it 50 - 50.

Welcome to CUMMINS FORUM :thumbsup

I'm glad it worked out for you Mr. Sport! That $100 deductable does not apply to the second generation trucks from what I've read but I wasn't about to argue when I got hit with it either.

I spent a bit of time writing my warranty post. My motivation was the thought that a lot of Cummins/Ram owners would stand up to D/C's promise in the Warranty Information Booklets—sort of a pay back for the way DaimlerChrysler's customer service personnel stonewalled me.

Your success is all the thanks I need.

That is fantastic!! You should mention their name to give them some well deserved recognition.

So let me see if I understand this correctly...The warranty from D/C combined with the Cummins Engine warrenty will cover the specified engine components up to 8 years or 136,000 miles, wichever comes first, because they are consecutive warranties? Hope I got it right.

Everytime I've been in for warranty work with my '02, that $100 deductible applied only to driveline stuff, never to engine stuff.

I am still in AW over it. I just couldn't believe it! Well, I was going to let you all know the dealer's name since it was suggested. Cloverleaf Dodge in Decatur, AL. I guess it all could be in a name but, Man, I am sure glad that I "Lucked Out". Now, since I have the new VP44 I think I am going to replace my lift pump. Thanks again! The Web, what an amazing tool.......
