The good warranty thread is right here:

8 YEAR Cummins Limited Warranty for 1999, 2000, 2001 ???

I just bought the truck in my signature below monday from a local 5 star Dealer. Driving it back from lunch tuesday, I got the "dead pedal" syndrome. I checked for codes and it was the one and only p0216 Injections Pump Timing Failure. So I take the truck back in Wednesday morning, the service writers were not happy with me for asking that they look at the truck since no check engine light was on.

Low and behold upon scanning the truck they find the code, and after calling 3 times over 5 hours I got the answer "we are going to take it to the local Cummins Dealer and have them check to confirm its the Injection Pump before we replace a $$$ unit. I am waiting to here from them this morning. The truck is an '02 with 118K it should be covered right?

:End hijack:

Ijust Got Off The Phone With Dc, I Read The Wrrenty Out Of The Book To Them And They State It Means The 5 Y 100000 Is In Addition However Starts The Same Time As The 3/36 And Carries Pasrt It To The 5/100000. There Is A Graph On Page 1 Of The Wrrenty Book That Shows The Coverage Ending At 5/100000 From The Start Of The 3/36. So It Was Worth A Shot But No Good Thanks Guys

Lift Pump

I am new to this forum, lots of good info here. I have a question regarding the lift pump/injector pump issue. I just replaced my VP myself (1,000.00). I was wondering if anyone knew the volume requirements of the lift pump. I am wondering if I could use a Holley blue or red pump inline at the tank. I currently use these pumps on my drag car, that is producing around 650-700 HP. I am trying to find a cheaper route to keep this truck fueled. I currently have a powerpuck and K/N filter on it. Oh, it is a 01 2500 4WD auto.

Instead of the Holley Blue (although there are some members here that are running one with no problems), you might look into a Walbro GSL392 in-line pump. Many people have switched over to that setup (including myself) and they're not much more than the Holley pumps but flow more fuel. Just make sure if you do go the Walbro route to put in a bypass (preferably with a regulator) to return extra fuel to the tank. Hope this helps.

Lots of people here use the Holley Blue, I have not heard anything about the Red (I'm guessing because its not able to pump enough). I think you'll find the Holley Blue with a Vulcan Big line kit is one of the cheaper routes to good fueling. It seems I've read several times that you want to be no lower P.S.I. than 10 @ WOT and a Holley Blue should net you that. Other than that you probably find that the K&N is not highly recommended due to the oil in the filter and its affect on the turbo. Sorry I couldnt help with any wonderful information, my best advice is just read and search until your eyes hurt there is tons of useful information here! :thumbsup

Asking DaimlerChrysler to interpret the warranty is a mistake. I suggest you read the original warranty thread, including all links. One purpose of Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 701 is to require warrantors to write a warranty in plain English so that consumers can do their own interpretting.

Assuming you read the original warranty thread, the links, & Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 701, do you really think the graph on page one says anything about when any warranties start or end?

You're in essentually the same position I was when my VP44 was warranted at six years, ten months, twenty-one days with 130,737 miles.

Good luck!

Sounds like you need to go read the original warranty thread one more time.

They maybe, but I have my Vulcan Kit ready and I am still debating on pumps (either way Holley or Walbro) it will be on within the next couple weeks to protect this new VP44. Are there any parts I should asked the dealership to keep to make the drawstraw install easier?
